Addressing the influence of gender and sexuality on occupational participation and possibilities is an ethical and professional responsibility of occupational therapists practising in Canada. Including these aspects of the person into the care occupational therapists provide not only promotes holistic well-being and health equity, but is crucial when working with those who are Two-Spirit, le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, questioning (2S/LGBTQ+) or of another gender or sexual identity.

By the end of this upcoming workshop presented by Holly Reid and Kirby Way, you will be able to:
✅ Engage in conversations with and about the 2S/LGBTQ+ community using affirming and respectful language.
✅ Recognize the impact of the current social and political climate on the 2S/LGBTQ+ community, including identification of how to respond to homophobia and transphobia.
✅ Identify the connection between occupation and experiences of gender transition including gender dysphoria, gender euphoria, and q***r joy.
✅ Support 2S/LGBTQ+ clients in navigating commonly encountered systemic barriers.
✅ Recognize and support occupational therapy’s role in identity-affirming care.

➡️ Identity-affirming occupational therapy: Nuanced approaches to supporting 2S/LGBTQ+ clients and families
📆 June 12, 2026 live
🕐️ 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.(Eastern Time)
Presented by occupational therapists Holly Reid & Kirby Way
