🟣 Bruising 101 — What’s Normal?
We get these questions all the time:
❓ How do I reduce bruising?
❓ Can I still get physio or massage?
❓ Why does it look worse later compared to the day I got injured?!
Here’s what you should know 👇
🧊 To reduce bruising:
Rest the area, use gentle compression, and apply ice in the first 24–48 hours. Keep movement light and pain-free.
📅 Can you still get treatment?
Often, yes — but it depends on the severity and location. Your therapist may modify techniques to avoid direct pressure while still helping with mobility and recovery. If we suspect something may have been missed, we will refer you on to get further imaging or investigation.
🎨 Why does it look worse tomorrow?
Bruising can spread and darken as blood moves under the skin — that colour change is a normal part of healing. It doesn’t always mean things are getting worse.
🚨 When to seek medical care:
If you suspect a fracture, significant tear, severe swelling, inability to bear weight, numbness, or worsening pain, it’s important to consult a physician promptly before starting treatment.
