Remembrance Day invites us to pause, breathe, and hold space for the sacrifices that shaped the freedom we live with today. Grief, pride, and gratitude can all exist at the same time. Take a moment to acknowledge whatever rises in you and let it be met with compassion. May we honour those who served by choosing empathy, peace, and connection in our own lives.

Today is National Stress Awareness Day. Feeling the pressure? Try these simple stress relievers; no fancy equipment required:

1. Deep Breathing (2โ€“5 minutes)
๐Ÿ‘‰ Why it works: Activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering heart rate and cortisol.
Try this: Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale through your mouth for 6. Repeat 5 times.
๐Ÿง  Effect: Helps calm your mind and body almost instantly.

2. Physical Movement (Even 10 minutes helps)
๐Ÿ‘‰ Why it works: Exercise releases endorphins, reduces muscle tension, and boosts mood.
Try this: A brisk walk, light stretching, dancing, or even doing chores with energy.
๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ Effect: Clears mental fog and resets your stress response.

3. Mindful Breaks
๐Ÿ‘‰ Why it works: Shifting your focus to the present moment stops rumination (the endless replaying of worries).
Try this: Spend one minute noticing what you can see, hear, and feel right now.
๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Effect: Builds awareness and trains your brain to pause instead of spiral.

4. Connection with Others
๐Ÿ‘‰ Why it works: Social support reduces stress hormones and increases oxytocin (the โ€œfeel-goodโ€ bonding chemical).
Try this: Text a friend, share a laugh, or hug someone you trust.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Effect: Reminds your nervous system youโ€™re safe and supported.

Today, we pause for remembrance.

October 15 marks Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. A day to hold space for the babies who were deeply loved but never got to stay, and for the parents and families whose hearts carry both love and loss.

Grief after such loss is not something to โ€œget over.โ€ It is something we learn to live alongside; a quiet ache that can resurface in unexpected moments. Itโ€™s love, without a place to go.

Tonight, as candles are lit around the world for the Wave of Light, we join in honouring every precious life gone too soon and every parent navigating this journey in silence and strength. You are not alone. Your love matters. Your loss matters.

If you are grieving today, know that your feelings, in all their depth and complexity, are valid. Take gentle care of yourself, and reach out if you need support. We are here to walk with you.

World Mental Health Day serves as a powerful reminder that there is no health without mental health. This yearโ€™s campaign focuses on the urgent need to support the mental health and psychosocial needs of people affected by humanitarian emergencies.

Crises such as natural disasters, conflicts, and public health emergencies cause emotional distress, with one in five individuals experiencing a mental health condition. Supporting the mental well-being of individuals during such crises is not just important โ€“ it saves lives, gives people the strength to cope, the space to heal and to recover and rebuild not only as individuals but as communities. Thatโ€™s why it is essential for everyone, including government officials, health and social care providers, school staff and community groups to come together. By working hand in hand, we can ensure the most vulnerable have access to the support they need while protecting the well-being of everyone.

By investing in evidence and community-based interventions, we can address immediate mental health needs, foster long-term recovery, and empower people and communities to rebuild their lives and thrive.

On this World Mental Health Day, let us intensify our efforts to create a world where mental health is valued, protected, and accessible for all, especially in the face of adversity.

Thinking of everyone starting something new this week.

Itโ€™s okay to feel excited, nervous, or both. Take it one step at a time, breathe deeply, and know that support is here if you need it. You donโ€™t have to do this season alone.

You've got this, and we've got you! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ“šโœจ
