Community Of Care The Perley Health has a long tradition of quality care serving veterans and an ever-increasing number of seniors from the community.

Perley Health has expanded its programs and services from a long-term care centre to create a Seniors Village which offers seniors more choices in a healthy, stimulating and safe environment. The Seniors Village includes 139 especially-designed apartments, Assisted Living services for those in need at home or in the new apartments, a long-term care centre serving 450 residents, various respite care to help caregivers of family members with dementia, convalescent care, and various on-site health-oriented services. Care for those living with dementia is fully integrated into the Perley Health Seniors Village programs and services including one of Ontario’s first apartment clusters. We have built up expertise in-house and have established a close connection with the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County.

Today, the Perley Health community came together in remembrance, to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of Veterans.

Residents, tenants, volunteers, families, friends, caregivers, and staff gathered for a heartfelt ceremony that included laying of wreaths and a moment of silence in tribute to all who served and continue to serve.

Thank you to Andréa Fabricius for capturing memories today.

On Remembrance Day, we pause to honour and remember those who served and sacrificed in defence of our freedom. We pay special tribute to the bravery and commitment of the Veterans at Perley Health and their loved ones, as well as all Veterans and service members who have dedicated their lives to our country.

Perley Health Board Chair Lt-Gen. Lloyd Campbell (ret'd) shares his Remembrance Day reflections as a retired RCAF member and Veteran's son. He remarks that we are paying homage to those who served our country and gave their lives in the defence of our nation – whether in wartime, on peacekeeping missions or in tragic accidents suffered while preparing for war. The selflessness of all of these Canadians, he says, reminds us that the freedoms we enjoy were hard-won. It is our shared duty to uphold the values that these brave Canadians fought to protect. Lest we forget.

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day.

Tomorrow, Veterans like Lu will gather at Perley Health to honour fallen comrades and reflect on their years of service.

Lu is 104 years old. She served in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service during WWII. Today, she lives at Perley Health, grateful for the quality of life made possible by generous supporters.

Perley Health welcomed 15 Grade Nine students for Take our Kids to Work Day on November 5th. The group enjoyed engaging with residents, through a range of activities, hosted by the Physiotherapy, Therapeutic Recreation & Creative Arts and Volunteer Services teams. They came away with a deeper appreciation for their parents' careers, with one student noting "it really puts into perspective the hard work people do to ensure a good life for others." Thanks to all the residents, staff and volunteers who provided a warm welcome to these kind and caring teenagers.
