The Portia Learning Centre We use an interdisciplinary, evidenced based approach in providing ABA therapy. We offer a variety of ABA Services to suit each child’s unique needs.

The Portia Learning Centre’s individualized ABA treatment programs follow a developmental and interdisciplinary approach for children of all ages, starting at 6 months of age. Our team of Behaviour Analysts, ABA Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists and Psychotherapists, and Psychologists are here to help you and your family. We also offer worldwide supervision services.

Our team at our Ottawa East location has been busy with some amazing activities this March.

From creative pom pom pet crafts that build fine motor skills through Natural Environment Teaching, to visual breathing exercises that help our learners practice self-regulation.

The sensory garden was a huge hit - combining academic goals like counting and adjectives with imaginative play in a sensory-friendly way!

These activities show how we blend learning with fun, making every moment meaningful for our clients. 💙

🌟 Staff Milestone: Congratulations Allison! 🌟

We are so excited to celebrate an incredible milestone — Allison has officially become a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA).

Allison joined Portia in 2019 as an Instructor Therapist and has grown tremendously over the years through her dedication to learning, her commitment to families, and her passion for helping children develop meaningful skills.

She completed her Master’s in Special Education with a concentration in Applied Behaviour Analysis from Arizona State University.

Allison is known for her thoughtful, creative approach to therapy and her ability to build strong relationships with both learners and families. She is especially passionate about reducing challenging behaviours, teaching life skills in natural environments, and supporting parents and caregivers through coaching and collaboration.

We are incredibly proud of Allison’s hard work and are so grateful to have her leadership and expertise supporting our Portia community.

🌟 Staff Highlight: Alicia Monteiro 🌟

Alicia is one of our dedicated Instructor Therapists at our East End location. Since joining the team, Alicia has consistently gone above and beyond—showing initiative, supporting fellow therapists, and always advocating for the learners she works with.

Alicia is known for her compassion and calm presence, especially when supporting children through challenging moments. She models coping strategies and self-regulation in real time, helping learners build meaningful skills they can carry into everyday life.

It has been wonderful to see the progress her learners have made, particularly in developing stronger self-regulation skills.

Alicia has also shared her interest in continuing her education and growing her career in this field, and we’re excited to see her continue to develop within the Portia community.
