✨What is TMJ?✨
TMJ refers to the temporomandibular joint. It connects the lower jaw (mandible) to the skull at the temporal bone. This joint is located just in front of the ear on each side of the head and allows your jaw to move when you talk, chew, and yawn.
Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) can cause pain in the jaw joint and surrounding areas, along with symptoms such as frequent headaches, teeth grinding or clenching, clicking or popping when opening and closing the mouth, ringing in the ears, and jaw tension or stiffness.
The good news is that many people experience relief quickly with the right TMJ treatment. Our team of experienced TMJ Physiotherapists and massage therapists can help reduce pain, restore movement, and improve function. Sara, Elizabeth, Zac, and Roxanne are here to support you through your recovery.
💡Pro tip: While waiting for your appointment, try to avoid chewing gum, biting your nails, or resting your chin on your hand, these habits can increase strain on the jaw.
