Dear VBAH Clients,
Below is the new CDC requirements for travelling to the U.S with our dogs. This was updated on July 22nd 2024 and goes into effect August 1st 2024
On July 22nd, 2024, the United States (U.S) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced important requirements for dogs entering the U.S
If your dog has only been in dog-rabies free or low-risk countries (Such as Canada) in the past 6 months, visit:

Requirements:
- CDC Dog import form
- Dogs must appear healthy upon arrival
- Dogs must be at least 6 months old at time of entry or return to the U.S
- Dogs must have a microchip that can be detected with a universal scanner to identify them.
If your dog HAS been in high-risk countries in the past 6 months, visit:

Find out if a country is on the CDC’s list of High-risk countries for Dog Rabies.
If the country is not listed, it is considered a dog rabies-free or low-risk country.

REMINDER: If your dog is returning to Canada, it will still need to meet Canada’s important requirements, such as a valid Rabies Vaccination Certificate. For more information, consult the CFIA’s Pet Import Tool below:
