It was such a pleasure to welcome Cheryl’s ESL class from the YMCA Adult Learning Centre to our pharmacy today! Sam gave the group a behind-the-scenes look at how our team works together to prepare prescriptions and support patients’ health. They also learned about the kinds of questions they might be asked when visiting a pharmacy as a patient. We’re always happy to connect with our community and be part of their learning experience.

☀️Today we’re shining a light on the sunshine vitamin, which plays an important role supporting strong bones, muscles and immune health. Here in Canada, many of us don’t get enough vitamin D, especially through our long winters. 🇨🇦

You can make sure you’re receiving enough vitamin D by combining sunshine (safely!), vitamin D-rich foods (e.g., fatty fish, egg yolks, fortified milk/plant beverages) and a supplement if needed.

The recommended amount of supplemental vitamin D typically ranges between 400IU-2,000IU per day, depending on age and various risk factors for deficiency. Chat with one of our pharmacist to learn if a supplement is necessary and the dose that’s right for you!

Brenda brings 10 years of experience as a Registered Tech, while Khushi is getting ready to hit her 1-year milestone! From ensuring the technical accuracy of our compliance packs, to administering vaccines and demoing devices, they are certainly key members of the pharmacy team! ⭐️

October 10th is This year’s theme, “Access to services: mental health in catastrophes and emergencies,” is a reminder of how important it is to protect our mental well-being during times of crisis and uncertainty.

Our world can feel heavy at times, even if you’re not directly impacted by current global events. There are ways we can care for ourselves, manage overwhelm, and take control of our news feeds to support our mental health.

We’ve been alerted to a concerning situation: someone has been targeting our elderly patients by impersonating a Northgate Pharmacy delivery driver and asking to access their medications.

⚠️ While it’s true that our team may occasionally pick up medications to make necessary changes, please be assured that a pharmacy staff member will always contact the patient or their caregiver directly beforehand to explain the reason and schedule the pickup.

If someone shows up at your door claiming to be from Northgate Pharmacy and you weren’t expecting them:
🛑 Do not give them your medications
📞 Call us immediately at (519) 344-8222 to verify
🚔 If you feel unsafe, contact 911

Please help us spread the word—especially to seniors or vulnerable individuals in your life. We’re working to investigate the situation, and your safety remains our highest priority.
