Look at this face. LOOK AT IT.
Nellie has been through more in her life than most dogs her age, and somehow she’s still soft, still hopeful, and still waiting for her person.
Hey fam! It’s your favourite weird dog trainer lady, back again with another sweetie pie in hopes that we can help get her adopted faster 🥰
Nellie came to the Sarnia Humane Society as a stray, and it’s clear she’s had puppies a few times. She’s a survivor. She’s smart. She’s sensitive. She’s the kind of dog who has learned the world isn’t always gentle… but she’s unbelievably ready for the first person who makes her feel safe.
Here’s what you need to know about her:
She’s a little guarded at first.
New people can make her unsure; she’ll bark, she’ll look a bit tense, she’ll keep her space. That’s her saying, “Please give me a minute to understand you.”
She warms up beautifully.
Once she figures out you’re not a threat, she softens FAST. She decompresses, investigates, and starts showing you her sweetness. She genuinely wants connection; she just isn’t the “run up and kiss strangers” type.
Don’t rush up to her face right away, she’s not that girl. She prefers people who respect her space and let her make the first move.
She’s NOT a problem dog.
She’s just a dog who’s had a hard life and needs someone who understands body language, calm energy, and slow introductions.
✨ With the right person, she is GOLD.
Confidence-building.
Structure.
A predictable home.
Someone who sees her.
That’s all she needs.
Nellie is ready to bond HARD with someone who gives her a fair shot, and she will make the most loyal, devoted companion for the person willing to meet her where she’s at.
If you’ve ever wanted to make a REAL difference in a dog’s life… this is the one.
Please share her story. You could be the reason she goes home.
Let’s get this girl out of a kennel and into a home where she can finally exhale. 💛🐾
