February is Black History Month

This year’s theme, “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations,” celebrates the legacy, resilience, and contributions of Black communities past, present, and future.

At Rapids Family Health Team, recognizing Black History Month is especially important in healthcare. Black individuals and communities have made vital contributions to medicine and health advocacy, while also continuing to experience health inequities, systemic barriers, and disparities in care. Acknowledging this history helps us reflect on bias in healthcare, strengthen culturally safe practices, and reaffirm our commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful, compassionate care for all.

We encourage everyone to learn more about this year’s theme and the history behind it by visiting www.blackhistorymonth.ca.

🩺📚 Equity in healthcare starts with awareness—and continues with action.

The HART Hub is operated in collaboration with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Lambton-Kent, Bluewater Health, County of Lambton, North Lambton Community Health Centre and the Sarnia-Lambton Ontario Health Team.
