A Peaceful Couple of Days at Meadowvale

We’ve had a calm and cosy few days (yesterday and today) here, making the most of things even with the wild weather outside. Our Lunch Club in the conservatory has been a favourite. The residents love a wee nosey outside, seeing all the action - particularly the committed dog walkers braving it in the rain. Today we even turned it into a little Men’s lunch Club, which the gents enjoyed.

We managed a few local walks too, although yesterday’s was cut short when the sun making a fast exit, only to grant us some lovely wind and rain. This morning we kept spirits high with some cup and ping-pong games, which always help with confidence and dexterity.

Over both days we’ve had lots of meaningful 1-2-1 time. Some residents got their nails done, others enjoyed a chat or a quiz, with one scoring an impressive 13/15 on a Scottish football quiz.

Simple moments, warm company, and plenty of smiles!

Making Dreams Come True, One Step at a Time 💫

We’ve been getting creative here at Meadowvale! Some of our residents rolled up their sleeves this afternoon to design a bright and eye-catching banner for our 500-Mile Walking Challenge in aid of Make-A-Wish UK It’s already adding a lovely splash of colour to our home, and it’s inspiring everyone to keep stepping toward our goal! 👟

Earlier in the day, our Lunch Club met in the conservatory, where residents enjoyed good food, peaceful conversation, and the relaxing view, the perfect setting for a cosy midday catch-up.

Throughout the day, we also enjoyed some one-to-one time. Some residents treated themselves with freshly painted nails, while others opted for a friendly chat over a comforting cuppa ☕.

Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has already supported our 500-Mile Challenge, every step and every penny helps us make dreams come true. ✨

If you’d like to support our efforts, donations can be made via our sponsor sheet at reception, or online through our JustGiving page linked below. Remember dreams come in all different sizes, and every bit of support makes a difference.

We started off the day with getting our circulation moving as we exercised to line dancing which had our residents chuckling among themselves. 🕺

We then had our lunch club now a firm faviourite with our residents and as a result is now being extended to evening dinner. 🥙🥗

And of course not forgetting our gorgeous ladies getting dolled up and showing off their styles, done by our amazing in-house stylist.

Later in the afternoon we had our fabulous staff entertaining residents by singing on the Karaoke 🎤 Our residents cheered and clapped in support of the singers.

Another fine day at Meadowvale.

It might have been a bit of a dreich day outside, but that didn’t stop us from making the most of it here at Meadowvale. 🌧️

Since we couldn’t head out on our local walks, many of our residents spent the morning working through their Remembrance Day activity booklets, filled with poems, crosswords, and colouring pages. It was a lovely, peaceful way to start the day and reflect on the meaning of armistice day.

This afternoon, we gathered for our Lunch Club down in the conservatory. Everyone was glad to be warm and cosy indoors while the rain poured outside. The food, the chatter, and the view made it the perfect midday break. 👨‍🍳

We also had some one-to-one time with our residents. One of our clever residents scored an impressive 13.5 out of 15 on their British history quiz! Others got stuck into balloon ball games with the paddles, while some were happy with a bit of company and a nice chat!

Later on, our arts and crafts group got creative making a banner for our Make-a-Wish donations pot. Every bit of effort helps towards our 500-mile walk challenge, and donations can be made at our reception or online using the link below. Every contribution makes a real difference for a wonderful cause. ✨

To round off the day, some of our lovely ladies treated themselves to a bit of pampering with fresh nails!

Today was a slower paced day but that said we still managed to squeeze a few things in. We started off with chair exercise along to music.

Then we had our customery lunch club in the conservatory. A few of our ladies were positively glowing when they had their hair styled. Talking about feeling pampered one of our four legged friends had a good massage and didn’t want to leave.

The later afternoon was spent discussing art, colouring and narrating a book.

A lovely day had by all.

Today our residents observed Remembrance Sunday by watching the service on TV.

After lunch we settled down for a game of Prize Bingo which our residents enjoy. Later our residents spent the late evening reminiscing with a staff member and her husband’s service medals which he was awarded during his service. Thank you for providing the experience.

A thoughtful day.

Today we started off with our musical chair exercises which was a good laugh for all. 🎶 And of course we had our now established lunch club.

Later we started our knitting club which ended up being a reminiscence session as we read a Daily Mirror newspaper from 1936. We had a good laugh at the promoted exercise of the day. One resident joked that she does the exercises before she goes to bed.

Later some of our residents settled down to do some colouring in.

It’s been a lively and cheerful day here at Meadowvale!

We kicked off the morning with an energetic gym session led by the lads in kilts from Burns Gym. The residents had a brilliant time joining in, with plenty of smiles and laughter to start the day right.

Afterwards, we turned up the tunes and listened to some Black Lace classics, playing along with our percussion instruments. There’s nothing like a bit of music and movement to lift everyone’s spirits!

Throughout the day, several of our residents were treated to some pampering by our amazing in-house stylist, leaving the lounge filled with fresh hairstyles and happy faces.

Midday brought a little surprise when our maintenance man popped in, supposedly to “fix” something in the conservatory—only to be met with a birthday celebration from our staff and residents! Judging by his expression, he was relieved there wasn’t actually anything broken to repair.

Later in the afternoon, our creative residents got to work in arts and crafts, making beautiful poppies for Remembrance Day this Sunday. We went around offering them to residents who wanted one for their door, and it was lovely to see how proudly they displayed them.

Today was quite a varied day. We started with playing skittles before lunch. Then we had our lunch club, our residents enjoy chilling out in the conservatory.

As ever we had a visit from our four-legged friend which always leds to oohs and aahs from residents, families and staff alike. Later we played our iPad game jigsaw puzzles.

One of our residents decided it was time to tidy up the garden and she made a fine job of it too. Another great day at Meadowvale.

So today we started off with some target practice games using bean bags and ping pong balls (bouncing them off the table and aiming them into the cups) 🎯 Others engaged in some Guy Fawkes themed colouring in.

We also hosted our lovely lunch club this afternoon, alowing our residents to enjoy their lunch in a cafe setting looking out at the lovely scenery from our conservatory.

Throughout the day we had one-to-ones with our residents, one of our residents scored an impressive 13/15 on their History quiz, others wished to have their current book read out to them.

Later on today, we decided to head outside and enjoy the festivities with some lovely sparklers 🎇
