Today was all about slowing down and enjoying the simple pleasures.

We began our morning by “turning back the clocks” with a wonderful memorabilia session. Residents explored antique newspapers featuring significant historical events, sparking meaningful conversations, shared memories, and plenty of smiles. It’s always so special to see stories from the past bring such joy in the present.

Throughout the day, we spent some calming one-to-one time focusing on the senses, particularly smell. Residents enjoyed sampling different aftershaves during our scent testing, which brought back fond memories for many. We also created our own fragrant flowers by spraying essential oils onto artificial flowers, allowing residents to experience the scent of fresh blooms in a safe and accessible way during the winter months 🌼

Later in the afternoon, we gathered in the conservatory for a cosy and creative session of knitting and colouring, accompanied by music, tea, and biscuits. It was the perfect way to unwind together and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed setting.

This afternoon we brought together some of the gentlemen for our very own “Gents Club”, a relaxed and sociable session filled with a few lively rounds of dominoes, great music, and of course, tea and biscuits to keep us going. There was plenty of friendly competition and even more laughter around the table!

Throughout the day, we also enjoyed some special one-to-one time. One of our residents has a real fondness for classic aftershaves, so we gathered a selection of well-loved scents from years gone by. We spent time reminiscing, chatting about favourites, and even finished off with a fun quiz all about iconic aftershaves. It certainly brought back some wonderful memories!

Later in the afternoon, things took a playful turn with an impromptu game that had everyone smiling. Residents were challenged to knock over party hats using only noisemakers, not as easy as it sounds! It was a great laugh, and everyone gave it their very best shot!

As the day wound down, some residents enjoyed playing games on the big iPad, while others settled in with a good film for a cosy end to the evening.

Another lovely day at Meadowvale, this morning we started the day off with a variety of games such as hook-a-duck, balloon tennis, and some ball games. Some of our residents do prefer their own company at times, so we had some meaningful one to one sessions throughout the day!

The afternoon some had a small workout session hosted by the lads at Burns Gym where everyone gave it their best shot. Some of our residents had a more relaxed afternoon and took part in a mini pamper session, which involved getting their nails painted!

Today, some of our residents began creating personalised keychains using photographs that hold very special meaning to them! 😊

Together, we spent time looking through treasured memories, familiar faces, loved ones, and moments close to their hearts, which we’ll be turning into small keepsakes they can carry with them each day.❤️

We hope to offer this to as many residents as possible. If any family members are reading this and have photographs you think your loved one would enjoy or recognise, please let us know when you’re next visiting

These little reminders can mean so much.

If any of you are approaching 30, this one’s worth a read ❤️

Earlier today, we took our residents on a journey back in time, inviting them to imagine meeting their 30-year-old selves and sharing the advice they wish they’d known then, or what they wish the younger generation of today should know.

The messages were heartfelt and consistent — less about material success and more about valuing family, looking after health, believing in yourself, and choosing happiness. Timeless advice, really.✨

Today at Meadowvale was full of laughter and smiles, with a lovely range of activities enjoyed throughout the day.

We rolled out a few rounds of skittles across both floors, and it didn’t take long for residents to get their competitive heads on, friendly rivalry all around! 🎳

Throughout the day, we also spent quality one-to-one time with our lovely residents, especially those who prefer a calmer, smaller group setting. These quieter moments are always so meaningful.

The afternoon brought a relaxed arts and crafts session, enjoyed alongside a cuppa and a cheerful sing-along to some favourite tunes, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved. ☕🎶

Another great day at Meadowvale with a nice range of activities for our lovely residents. We started off with some games in the morning, had some meaningful one to ones with many of our residents throughout the day - this included anything from games, looking through memorabilia, tackling a hard quiz or just having a nice chat.

In the later afternoon we had our knitting club upstairs and colouring in session down stairs with some of our residents opting for a relaxing hand massage.

So another wholesome day filled with lovely smiles!

This morning, we started off with some new age curling, which was really fun because it’s a modern twist on the traditional game, making it more accessible and exciting. After that, we played skittles, which got everyone involved and laughing as we tried to knock down the pins. In the afternoon, we switched things up with some karaoke, where everyone had a chance to sing their favourite songs and show off their talents. It was such a lively and entertaining session that really brought out everyone’s energy. To finish the day, we had some one-to-one time with the residents, which was a nice way to connect personally, have meaningful conversations, have meaningful conversations, and make sure everyone felt heard and cared for. Overall, it was a day full of fun activities and great moments with the residents.
