πŸŽ„ Christmas First Aid Tip, Spotting a Stroke πŸŽ„

πŸŽ…As families come together this Christmas, it’s important to look out for one another ❀️
Strokes can happen at any time knowing the signs could save a life.

Remember FAST:
🟒 F – Face: Has their face dropped on one side? Can they smile?
🟒 A – Arms: Can they raise both arms and keep them there?
🟒 S – Speech: Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?
🟒 T – Time: If you notice any of these signs, call 999 immediately.

πŸŽ…Even if symptoms seem to pass, it’s still an emergency. Acting fast can reduce long-term damage and save lives.

πŸŽ„ From all of us at JMS First Aid Training, stay safe, look after each other, and have a wonderful Christmas πŸŽ…βœ¨

πŸ”₯πŸŽ„ Burns & Scalds: Christmas First Aid Reminder πŸŽ„πŸ”₯

Christmas is a magical time βœ¨πŸŽ… but it also comes with extra burn risks from hot ovens πŸ—πŸ”₯, boiling pans 🍲, candles πŸ•―οΈ and hot drinks β˜• around children πŸ‘Ά.

Here’s how to treat a burn quickly and safely if it happens over the festive period 🎁:

βœ… 🚿 Cool it immediately
Run the burn under cool running water for at least 20 minutes ⏱️. This helps reduce damage and pain.

❌ 🧈 Don’t use creams, butter, or ice 🧊
These can make burns worse – cool water is best πŸ‘

πŸ§₯ ⌚ Remove tight items
Carefully remove rings πŸ’, watches ⌚, or clothing near the burn (unless stuck).

🩹 πŸŽ€ Cover the burn
Use cling film or a clean, non-fluffy dressing to protect it.

πŸš‘ πŸŽ„ Get medical help if needed
Seek urgent help for:
πŸŽ… Burns to the face, hands, feet, or ge****ls
🎁 Large or deep burns
πŸŽ„ Burns to children or vulnerable adults
⚑ Electrical or chemical burns

πŸŽ„βœ¨ Stay safe this Christmas βœ¨πŸŽ„
A little first aid knowledge can make a big difference during the busiest time of year πŸ•―οΈπŸŽΆ

πŸŽ„ Choking First Aid TipsπŸŽ„
With festive meals, sweets, and busy family gatherings, choking risks can increase knowing what to do can save a life.

πŸŽ„Here are our top choking first aid tips, for adults and children!

πŸ§‘ CHOKING – ADULTS
βœ” Encourage them to cough – coughing is the body’s best way to clear an airway
βœ” If coughing fails:
β€’ Give 5 firm back blows between the shoulder blades
β€’ Follow with 5 abdominal thrusts (Heimlich manoeuvre).
βœ” Repeat 5 back blows + 5 thrusts until the object is cleared
βœ” call 999 immediately if they’re not coughing or if the first cycle isn’t successful. βœ”οΈ Call 999 If they become unresponsive and start CPR.

⚠️ Never perform abdominal thrusts on infants

πŸ‘Ά CHOKING BABIES
βœ” If they’re coughing, let them cough.
βœ” For babies (under 1 year)
β€’ 5 back blows (baby facing down)
β€’ 5 chest thrusts
πŸ‘§ CHOKING CHILDREN
βœ” For children (over 1 year):
β€’ 5 back blows
β€’ 5 abdominal thrusts
βœ” Call 999 if they’re not coughing, the airway doesn’t clear.
βœ”οΈ Call 999 if the child becomes unresponsive and start CPR.

πŸŽ„ Extra festive tip: Cut food into small pieces and supervise children closely during meals.

πŸŽ„ Stay safe this Christmas!

πŸŽ„πŸŽ… 1 WEEK TO CHRISTMAS! πŸŽ…πŸŽ„

The countdown to Christmas is on and so is all the festive fun! As we gear up for feasts, family time, and games with the kids, here’s a real life did you know? to keep in mind πŸ‘‡

πŸŽ„In the UK each year, there are around 115,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests, and 70–80% of them happen at home, that’s when the heart suddenly stops and every second counts. οΏΌ

That means your quick response could be the best present ever if someone needs help this Christmas. 🎁✨

Whether it’s knowing how to do CPR, when to call 999, or understanding how a defibrillator works, being prepared is the best way to make sure your holidays stay merry and bright. ❀️

πŸŽ„ Stay safe and enjoy the festive countdown from all of us at JMS First Aid Training!
