It’s happened again… and it’s devastating❤️🩹
Another preventable tragedy has hit the aesthetics and wellness community, with a woman losing her life after receiving a fake ‘skinny jab’. Just weeks before, the news was filled with cases of botulism poisoning from unauthorised and unsafe Botox injections.
As a Dental Surgeon and aesthetics practitioner, this is beyond heartbreaking…it is infuriating. These are not ‘beauty treatments’. These are medical procedures that require clinical training, sterile technique, regulated products, and an understanding of anatomy, complications, and emergency management. When performed by unqualified individuals using unlicensed products, the consequences can be catastrophic.
Safety isn’t a trend. Regulation isn’t optional. And your health is never worth the risk.
Don’t risk health for a quick buck❌
Don’t groupon your health❌
As an industry, we must continue to speak up, educate, and protect the public from misinformation and illegal practice. And as patients, please always check your practitioner’s medical qualifications, the origin of the products being used, and the clinical governance behind every treatment🙏
My thoughts are with the family affected by this tragic loss. May it serve as a reminder that aesthetics must always, always begin with safety.
