I'm still here!! 👋🤗

The busier I am in the real world, the less time I spend on here, but I am still here 😊

I've neglected socials a fair bit lately and have felt quite guilty for that, but I'm replying to all enquiries as quickly as I can and so far haven't had to turn anyone away Antenatal course wise, which I'm actually very proud of.

I've had a little (positive) word with myself today as I shouldn't feel any guilt at all. The reason I've been quiet on here is because I've been busy doing exactly what I intended these social platforms to provided me with.

I've been supporting lots of wonderful families in their preparation for birth and beyond - and this year I've delivered a record number of refresher courses for incredible families that I've supported previously as they prepare to welcome their newest edition to their family, and we're still only in Feb!! I'm so grateful for that.

I've also delivered Birth Support training for local groups and continue to book Antenatal and HypnoBirthing courses for groups and privately throughout Derbyshire.

I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be right now, doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing and that feels quite incredible.

Feeling grateful beyond belief right now. Thank you to everyone that has and is supporting me.

Can you learn HypnoBirthing® by just reading a book?!

I guess some people could, but I'm certainly not one of them.

I need to understand fully, to ask questions and see working examples.

I like to have a go at the exercises and to experience it all at the same time as my partner, rather than just reading sections of a book out to him or waiting until he's read the book too.

I recently taught a small group of first time parents who were all preparing for slightly different births due to their medical history, they're circumstances and their preferences.

We were able to carefully tailor each session to suit all of them and to give working examples and variations to the techniques and positions for birth in order for them to be relevant and applicable to each couple.

You don't get that from just reading a HypnoBirthing® book.

It's the interaction that helps you retain the information so quickly.

It's hearing questions raised in class by another parent that you might not have thought of but that also applies to you.

It's knowing that you are not alone.

That you are fully supported and encouraged to do the homework each week! 😁

It is regular practice that will make the techniques you learn second nature on the day.

2025 - What a year!!

Thank you so much to all of the families that chose me to help you prepare to meet your precious little ones.

It really is a huge honour that I will never take for granted.

29 beautiful families opened their hearts to me in 2025 and it was an absolute pleasure to help and support you all.

A whopping *23 baby boys* and 6 baby girls arrived safe and well to parents who were fully prepared in mind, body and spirit.

29 incredible births. 3 more babies still yet to make their entrance 🥰

Plus another year planned as a guest speaker at the University of Derby to teach the original Mongan Method HypnoBirthing® course to their incredible Midwifery students. I can't wait to see you all again in 2026!!

I look forward to meeting all the new parents 2026 has in store for me, both through Mummy Matters Hypnobirthing as an Antenatal course teacher and also in the Pregnancy Pal and Birth Buddy volunteer peer support role. Looking forward to teaching Birth Support techniques to their new Cohort of volunteers in the new year too.

To say I love the work I do, would be a massive understatement 💕

Did you know there's a direct correlation between your jaw and pelvic floor?

You've seen the dramatic births on TV and in films, sweaty screaming women in agony, breaking their partner's hands with their death grip 😫😣😖🥵

What if I told you the tension you create and hold in your face, jaw, shoulders and hands are actually making it harder for your pelvic floor to function as it needs to?

😂🤣 Despite all of the varied births in nature that happen instinctively, and unassisted, we are still led to believe that a human body and its human baby have absolutely no idea, and can't do it without coached pushing and a ton of medical assistance.

Crazy huh? 🤯🥴

Medical profession:

"Baby hasn't arrived (on the made up date we guesstimated, we'll have to get it out ourselves). Book the induction!!"

"FTP - Failure To Progress!!" (along the time line we have created, we'll have to step in and take over)

"You need to push!!" (so with all your depleted energy, hold your breath and all the lovely oxygenated blood that your uterus and your baby need, and squeeze and constrict baby's only exit, that'll do it)

"open your legs wide" (even though the wider apart your knees are, the narrower the exit route for baby 🙄)

A big part of my role as an Antenatal and HypnoBirthing teacher and birth worker is dispelling myths and releasing fears so that birthing people and couples have a fighting chance of the calm and confident birth they are entitled to.

These classes are fun and informative. We cover all the areas of birth you need to know about.

We cover the best ways for your partner to support you to ensure they're involved and feel confident in their role.

"Don't near cough over here, please far cough over there!!" 🤣🤣🤣

Seriously though, why do people think it's ok to bring their germs near you when they can clearly see you are pregnant?? 🤧

Pregnant people can't take all of the cold and flu medication available to those who aren't pregnant and to be fair, they've got enough going on without illness being added to the list.

If you have a cough, cold, sniffle or anything else that you think you might pass on, or your child(ren) do, please have a little consideration for those around you - especially if they happen to be pregnant 🤰 or have a newborn!!🤦‍♀️

Have you tried swimming whilst pregnant?

I've always loved swimming, especially when I was pregnant.

You feel totally weightless in the pool, which can be a nice relief especially towards the end of pregnancy.

Swimming is low impact and easy on your joints and warm water is a mild form of pain relief ☺️

Whether you attend an aquanatal class or just nip for a leisurely swim, it can be a really lovely way to relax and unwind, as well as keep fit and exercise👙
