Spring is finally here -my wellies may get an occasional outing now but this was mid february at a natural burial ground. The service was just as the lady would have wanted even her friends all laughed as we tried to scatter petals and stay up right.
Natural burials are always unpredictable even in midsummer so if you are attending one wear flat shoes take some wet wipes and shoe covers and bring spare clothes/shoes you never know just what the weather and ground has planned

I pray that you will have the blessing of being consoled…
May you know in your soul that there is no need to be afraid.
When your time comes, may you be given every blessing and shelter that you need.
May there be a beautiful welcome for you in the home that you are going to.
You are not going somewhere strange.

I'm currently in Foston Hall as this post goes live- I always feel the tension on mothers day. I'll go home and at some point today I'll get handed a card and possibly even a gift - Yes I am the smallest human in my house now
And yet this morning I'll be surrounded by those who have lost their mums or never had them, who will never have access to their children and yes I understand why but I also know more than anything I am blessed and its an honour to do what I do wherever I get to speak and lead.

Next saturday I'll be leading the memorial service at Trent crematorium in Derby. Mothers day is a tricky one because everyones journey is different - some miss their mums, some mums have arms which ache for children who never joined them, or even left earth before they should have, some grieve the relationships they used to have, some never knew their birth mothers and some never had an example of mum. I see you all and theres space for all to feel all they need to. So if you need space to reflect and be well heres one safe space

When Im not planning farewells, welcomes or other celebrations , I spend time supporting a local community- Why well I know just how many shut ins there are, how many people think no one cares so if I can create bridges and safe spaces. In the difficult times of life - when someone is having to say goodbye the community around cares, feeds and together they walk and that makes the world a kinder place.

I spent four incredible years living and working in Wales.
Today your home maybe happy, it maybe sad it maybe a mix of all things but I know this
Hireath sums it up - the presence of absence it kind of means a few things but that sense of longing or belonging
