Our project has been running for 4 years and we are so very grateful for all the help, support and funding we have got over this time.
Without the kindness, time, expertise, funding and support we have from so many people, groups, charities and businesses we wouldn't be where we are today with 2 fully accessible plots and more than 500 people who have directly benefited from it.
This is going to be a long one, so bear with me:
Thank you to..............
Our current funders Severn Trent who have made this second plot possible and have allowed us to take the project into the community by building raised beds for small groups, schools and individuals.
Awards for All from the National lottery who got this project started and the Masonic Charitable Foundation who kept us going for a year.
A L Wadsworth landscaping and maintenance who have laid what feels like a million slabs and have made our plots accessible.
Mighty Mike Skeldon who volunteered his time, tools and expertise to build all the raised beds on both plots.
Jewsons for donating loads of unsalable timber (which has saved us a fortune).
Browns Builders Merchant who provided slabs at a discounted price and gave us sand for free.
Bradstone for kindly donating slabs.
Northern Polytunnels for the discount and the great service on our second poly.
Nimbus Disability Consultancy for advice on the layout to ensure access for disabled people.
Little Chester Allotments and Normanton Allotments providing us with space to grow.
Ray Bickley, our oldest volunteer (83) who has been supporting our younger members since we started.
Lizzy, our wonderful vegan chef who can make anything from veggies.
David, Larry and Trevor from LCAA who have helped with pretty much everything on the original plot.
Alison and Dawn who support our members on a weekly basis and ensure the plots is looked after when we are not there.
Scott who has travelled down from Matlock a couple of times to advise us on growing.
Big Gaz from Normanton Allotments who has made life so much easier at the new plot.
We can't forget the charity that made this all possible, Disability Direct and the staff who have got dirty lending a hand.
Lee O'Meara, our Project Coordinator, who knows nothing about gardening, but is great at organising and is now a dab hand at building things.
Amo, (for trying to help) and believing in the project.
Steph, Claire, Tash, Hayley, Marie, Ange, Liz, Rob and Martin who have all helped out over the years.
And finally, thank you to our members who have pushed us to make something that is generally inaccessible to disabled people, welcoming for all.
