Elsie Allcock has lived in the same house for 104 years born in a 2 bed terraced house in 1918 of which her father had rented since 1902 she then went on to borrow a loan of £250 from the local council in order to buy the property Elsie was born at the back end of the First World War 28th June.

Did you know ❓ 1⃣ in 6⃣ older people are abused every year. Abuse of older people can happen anywhere. It occurs in homes, in long-term care facilities, even online. People who commit it are often in a position of trust.

In London, there's a woman who goes every day on the underground and sits on the platform just to listen to the announcement recorded by her husband in 1950.
Margaret McCollum after the death of her husband Oswald Laurence, sits on the bench waiting to hear this recording that became one of London's most famous "Mind the gap"
In 2003, Oswald died leaving a huge void in Margaret's heart. So Margaret found a way to feel his presence closest.
After more than half a century, this voice was replaced by an electronic recording. Out of distress Margaret asked for this cassette tape from London transport company so she could continue listening to her husband's voice at home.
After becoming aware of the moving history, the company decided to restore the announcement at the stop near where Margaret lives,at the Embankment stop of Northern Line, where all passengers can listen today and hear Oswald Laurence's voice and to think that eternal love really exists.

Since COVID, GP appointments are like gold dust abd they have a higher bar these days, you don’t get a call back unless you are dramatically, acutely poorly; if you do, it’s weeks sometimes months away!! 😨 For the elderly this just isn’t viable. They are a vulnerable group (along with the under 5’s, who have been treated differently throughout this pandemic - it’s the elderly that have been paying the price 😔)

They are often seen and not heard, because their best days are behind them (At Elixir we DO NOT believe that; luckily we can be their voice and shout a little louder 🤗)

When I ask for a call back to get a prescription for something over the counter, it is NOT a priority for them, but it is too us! Our clients are needing treatment, treatment that isn’t prescribed if you can get it over the counter…to save money 😡 ….so, we have created a consent form so we can give this treatment at the advice of a pharmacist, and not just the doctor, who is crazily overworked and pressured because of the backlog and pressure from the top 😣

(2 years ago) i had a call from an elderly lady who had 3 fence panels blow down in the bad weather. I went out to take a look within an hour as she was quite distressed and worried about the security at her home. I repaired the fence for her same day and when asking how much she owed me, i decided nothing. she was reluctant to let me walk away without a payment but after a short conversation with her, she explained how she struggled to keep on top of her bills but the fence repair was a must. I can't believe some of the older generation are in a situation where they have to decide whether to be warm or in this case have a secure fence.

Due to this, throughout the bad weather we are offering FREE Fence repairs to senior citizens who are struggling, All i ask is you provide me or one of my team with a cuppa tea and some biscuits.. My company is at a size where i can give a little back, and that's what i intend to do. Please spread the word so our elderly aren't worried about security in their homes. A wise old boy has always said to me, if you have a roof over your head and enough for a pint in the pub, your in a good position 🙏

We have a large team so can fit fencing installs and repairs in pretty quickly, We also offer driveways, Landscpaing, rubbish removal and fencing domestic & commercial.

Heavy snow started mid morning and settled between one of our routes from Ripley to Matlock by lunch time! ❄️🤭 we managed to see everyone as scheduled and kept our commitments, even when other drivers were ditching their cars! 🥶
Not us! Powering through the snow and adversity!! I’m happy to say all our Eixir Angel’s made all their visits with a smile, and made a difference despite the road conditions 😇 💖
