Independent Opticians serving the local community since 2007 Dawn has been practice manager throughout this time and is Alvaston born and bred.

Tom and Liz have been examining eyes in Derby since 1994, initially at their Oakwood branch and since 2007 in Alvaston. Laura has been testing eyes since then as well. Sarah and Angie are optical assistants who complete the team. Together they aim to deliver great customer service in a friendly environment where you are the priority.

We’ve got some exciting news to share! 👓✨
Many of you will already know Dr Farra Hargreaves, who’s been part of our team for the past two years. During that time, she's become a familiar face in practice and a big part of what makes our team so special.
We’re thrilled to say that Dr Hargreaves has now officially taken over the business! Their passion for eye care, dedication to our patients, and commitment to great service make them the perfect person to lead us into this next chapter.
Nothing’s changing when it comes to the friendly faces and quality care you know and trust – we’re just looking forward to building on it even more.

Whose been watching the winter Olympics🙋‍♀️
It's been fantastic and they are all winners in our eyes🏆
Did you know that Winter Olympic athletes use specialized eyewear to protect against intense UV snow reflection, freezing temperatures, and high-speed wind, often wearing goggles over prescription glasses or specialized, tinted lenses to maintain clear vision.
Just goes to show that your eyesight or surroundings shouldn't hold you back, you just need the right eyewear👊

A lot has changed in those 32 years. It started as Liz and Tom's vision of Oakwood Eyecare was created and over the years we have gained the most fantastic and loyal customers. To recap...
Dry eye is a common condition where your eyes don’t produce enough tears or the right kind of tears to keep them comfortable. This can lead to irritation, redness, blurry vision, and even headaches.
👀 Symptoms to watch for:
A gritty or sandy feeling
Red or swollen eyes
Sensitivity to light
Blurry vision
Excessive tearing (yes, really!)

So if you have any concerns at all just give us a call and we can advise you further👊
