Have you ever overcome a deeply embedded fear?

For me it was sailing across an ocean…

However much I have always enjoyed sailing it was always relatively close to shore, pottering around the Mediterranean under blue skies with a beautiful anchorage to look forward to.

Well, 18 months ago I reluctantly signed up to cross the Atlantic on a friend’s boat as part of the Arc+ rally. My husband had done it in 2022 with the same boat with an all-male crew but this time we were to be two couples. This was going to be my BIG LIFE CHALLENGE. Overcome that lifelong fear of crossing an ocean (in my case the Atlantic in particular as I’m convinced that I was involved with the Titanic in a past life - but that’s a story for another day!).

So here I am, on leg 2 of the two part crossing (we’ve completed Gran Canaria to Cape Verde, and are now doing Cape Verde to Grenada) and I can safely say I’m loving it! Even those dark lonely night watches bring peace, beauty and a magnificent night sky. My favourite moment is seeing light beginning to appear on the eastern horizon and knowing another day is dawning…

I’m revelling in the rhythms of the sea, the mesmerising blue, the vastness and
the emptiness…just you, the boat, the water, and the wind.

We’ve also been lucky enough to have some beautiful wildlife encounters - dolphins, pseudo-orcas, turtles, and even a whale. It has been a privilege to spend time with them in their ocean world.

We’ve even managed a mid-ocean swim at 4000m depth when it was calm as a millpond, warm and inviting. Who’d have known?

And on a final spiritual note, I’d consulted my pendulum many times to check whether this adventure was in my highest interest when I was stuck in my deepest fears - and it always said yes. So I trusted it. But when I had a big blip back in May my beautiful friend came back into my life at just the right moment and gave me a profound healing, releasing those visceral fears, and I thank her forever for that release which enabled me to approach the project with more faith & positivity than I could ever have imagined. ✨

The quiet wisdom of cats…🐈

Taking more leaves out of a cat’s book, they always know when it’s time to retreat. Our tabby, Tallulah, is most often found curled up in the chairs by the fire in the kitchen. Yet when that all gets too much she will retreat somewhere quiet. And it will usually be where the sun is warming her face or back. Sometimes that even means curled up amongst the paperwork on my husband’s desk in the window! Much to his annoyance..!

Yesterday I went into the sitting room to enjoy the beautiful snowscape and morning sunshine only to find she’d got there first and was enjoying some golden rays on the back of the sofa ☺️.

We can learn a lot about wellbeing from our furry friends…😻

LESSON: Retreating from the noise of life is essential for our health and wellbeing. Taking time to calm the mind & rest the body is an essential reset from the busy modern world and all the stress it can inflict on us.

A stressed mind and body becomes an unhealthy one, so stop the rot by making time to retreat from the noise whenever you can.

Why not start today? Even for a few moments. It’s Sunday after all! 😌

FACT: Cats are very good at being in the moment and slow living…✅

This morning I caught Mildred in a meditative moment contemplating the calming white snowscape from the comfort of my bedroom windowsill…🐈‍⬛🤍

Snowscapes are known to be mesmerising which induces a mild state of trance where the mind calms into an alpha brainwave state of deep relaxation. This is the moment when your subconscious mind starts to dominate and where new creative ideas spring, or resolutions to problems come to mind.

‘Tis Hallowe’en and the night of Jack o’ Lanterns, tricks or treats…and hauntings!

My reading of choice on the eve of All Hallows, when the dead are remembered, is this book ‘Haunted’ by E. Jay Gilbert, a recent purchase which caught my eye, and which delves into the business of haunted houses, ghostly happenings and the culture which surrounds them.

After all, we all love a ghost story, don’t we? But when such stories and presences stop you selling your house, or keep your guests awake at night by sitting on their bed and whispering in their ear, or rattling the candlesticks, this is less good…!

Many a house with a ghostly presence - or indeed some other ‘aura’ emanating from its walls and floors - fails to sell or swaps owners regularly. Just ask an estate agent…

But such problems can be fixed and these energies can be transmuted and released by house energy healers. I am one of those, and I would be delighted to help if you think you may have ‘ghostly’ housemates or any other energetic unease in your home.

While many people seem happy to live alongside these energies, the bottom line is that it is not a good idea as they drain your own body’s bioenergetic field, weakening your energetic system - and, long term, your health. Autumn is the season for truffling is it not? And look what I truffled out at Altrincham markets the other week! 🔮

Delighted with these purchases from 😀. I have a pretty comprehensive collection of hardworking crystals these days but it’s always great to find an excuse to get some more - and these plug a hole. Well. That’s not quite true. I have versions of some of them already but I just couldn’t resist…! 🤷🏻‍♀️😉

I use them in my Reiki practice, placing them on my client’s body as appropriate and also asking my clients to choose any to hold that they are drawn to. It’s amazing how often they intuitively choose ones appropriate to their needs 🥰

All crystals have a unique vibration

and it’s this that helps make the necessary adjustments to your energy field and at your chakra points.

Isn’t it a wonderful world? And one that we are all intrinsically part of…

I was just perusing my spiritual/healing book collection for inspiration for a long overdue post, and on randomly opening up The Power of Now, this was the page and paragraph that caught my eye.

It is one of the most succinct descriptions I have found of the way in which we are all connected with the natural world and with Source/Creation - perhaps simultaneously suggesting that, in fact, nothing in this miraculous and misunderstood Universe is actually random at all…

I’ll leave you with that thought to ponder this evening!

Meanwhile I think this beautiful piece of labradorite from my crystal collection is a sublime expression of how seemingly ‘dead’ things are actually still alive: just look at its other-worldly iridescence, the deep beauty to be found within the rocks and substratas that form planets, as if it possesses knowledge that we can only guess at. It is like looking into the eyes of the universe…👁️

The healing energetic properties of Labradorite are indeed on the spiritual plane, assisting in opening up your third eye and crown chakras as gateways to the higher knowledge, wisdom and mysteries of this astounding universe of which we are all part.

Another New Year and another opportunity to regain balance in your life!❣️
