🥁🥁And NOW…

If you’ve been recommended orthotics, you might be wondering what the fitting process actually involves.

👣 What Happens During a Formthotics Fitting Appointment?

The good news is that Formthotics fittings are quick, comfortable and done in one appointment.

Here’s what typically happens:

🔹 Step 1: Choosing the correct size
Formthotics come in sizes from XXS to XXL, so we select the size that fits both your foot and your footwear correctly.

🔹 Step 2: Heating the orthotics
The insoles are gently heated for around three minutes using a specially designed heater.

🔹 Step 3: Moulding to your feet
Once heated, you place your feet straight into your shoes so the orthotics mould to the shape of your feet.

🔹 Step 4: Cooling and setting
You stand while we hold your foot in position until the orthotics cool and set, creating your personalised support.

And that’s it — customised support for your feet in a single visit.

👣 After fitting, we recommend a short break-in period so your feet can gradually adapt to the new insole.

Foot pain is not something you should be putting up with so, if it’s slowing you down, the right support can make a real difference🤩

👍 YES! We ‘do’ Insoles…

Getting COMFORTABLE feet frequently includes many factors and the RIGHT SUPPORT can make a HUGE difference.

At Stepwise Podiatry New Mills we often use Formthotics™ semi-custom orthotics because they provide PERSONALISED SUPPORT quickly and comfortably.

Here are 5 benefits you can expect when you wear Formthotics:

✅ 1. A Customised Fit
Formthotics are gently heated and moulded to the shape of your feet during your appointment, creating a personalised fit in just one session.

✅ 2. Reduced Foot Pain
They can help reduce discomfort associated with conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon pain and general foot fatigue.

✅ 3. Improved Stability
By supporting the natural position of your feet, Formthotics help improve balance and stability when walking or standing.

✅ 4. Support for Natural Movement
Good foot support encourages your feet and legs to move more efficiently, helping reduce strain on injured tissues.

✅ 5. Comfort Throughout the Day
Formthotics are lightweight, waterproof and antimicrobial, helping to keep your feet comfortable whether you're at work, exercising or enjoying a weekend walk.

At Stepwise Podiatry we combine orthotics with rehabilitation exercises and other treatments to help address the underlying cause of foot pain — not just the symptoms.

👣 If heel pain or foot discomfort is holding you back, we’re here to help.

Here are 3️⃣ signs…

If you’re looking for comfortable feet here’s 3 signs orthotics may help:

🔹 1. You have persistent heel or arch pain.
Conditions such as plantar fasciitis often improve when the foot is properly supported.

🔹 2. Your feet feel tired or achy after standing or walking. If your job keeps you on your feet all day, additional support can reduce strain on the muscles and joints.

🔹 3. You’ve had recurring foot pain, such as Achilles tendinitis. Poor foot mechanics can place extra stress on tendons and joints. Orthotics can help improve foot function and stability.

At Stepwise Podiatry New Mills we often use Formthotics™ heat-mouldable orthotics. They help us to offer a personalised approach to relieve your foot aches and pains 🤩

Combined with rehabilitation exercises and other treatments, they can help address the underlying cause of foot pain, not just the symptoms 👍

👣 Healthy feet keep you moving so you can continue to enjoy life’s adventures.

🙌Time To Get Your Stride Back 🙌

You might not be WORLD class.

You might not have professional AMBITIONS .

But you do WANT to look after your HEALTH and wellbeing .

You want to ENJOY your chosen activity, stay fit, and remain STRONG and mobile for years to come 👍

Many foot and lower limb injuries are caused by overuse — simply repeating the same activity over and over again.

Add in factors such as:

🔹Worn or inappropriate footwear

🔹Not so great foot posture

🔹Imbalanced lower leg mechanics

…and the result can be an overuse injury.

Inflammation. Pain. Reduced movement.

Suddenly you’re off your stride.

What follows is often the most frustrating part — being sidelined from the activity that keeps you physically and mentally well.

👣That’s where we can help.

The sooner you get the right assessment and support, the quicker and more effectively injuries tend to resolve.

Podiatrists dedicate their careers to understanding and treating foot and lower limb conditions.

🙌We’re uniquely placed to assess the cause of your foot pain and guide you back to doing what you enjoy — safely and confidently.

If foot pain has demoted you from participant to spectator, it’s time to change that 🤩

👣Foot Pain? Ask Yourself These 6 Questions

Your exercise is helping you stay active, fit and healthy but, if you’re currently dealing with foot pain, it may be time to pause and reflect 🤔

Asking the right questions can help you identify what may have contributed to the issue — and more importantly, how to course correct and get back on the path to recovery 👍

Consider the following >>

🔹How old are your exercise shoes?
Where is the wear pattern? Excessive or uneven wear may indicate it’s time for a replacement.

🔹Do you repeat the same activity in the same way every time? If you’re a runner or walker, do you follow the same route and direction? Small variations can reduce repetitive strain.

🔹Do you warm up, cool down and stretch?
Skipping these steps could increase your risk of overload and injury.

🔹Are you incorporating strength training?
Weakness in key muscle groups can affect foot mechanics and overall mobility.

🔹Did you recently change intensity, pace or surface?
Going too far, too fast, too soon is a common cause of pain.

🔹Were you managing another injury?
The body is excellent at compensating. Sometimes a new pain develops because it has been absorbing load from an existing issue.

Foot pain rarely appears without reason.

Taking a moment to reflect on these factors can provide valuable insight into what your body may be telling you.

Do any of these resonate with you?
