Just for fun, here are five topics of conversation you constantly repeat, when you live in St Annes on Sea (or visit regularly.

Can you think of more ones?

1) St Annes on Sea is a separate town from Lytham. The whole area is called Lytham St Annes for marketing and navigational purposes.

2) Yes, the sea DOES come in.

3) The old jetty on the beach used to be the end of the pier, and got isolated by fires.

4) Childhood memories of our wonderful Miniature Railway and Alpine Gardens, including the 'secret' waterfall.

5) The long term investment into ‘JR Taylors’, which lay empty for ten years and is becoming a luxury Spa, restaurant and bar.

Add ons to these include acceptable ways to write and shorten St Annes on the Sea, and just how amazing our retail community is becoming!

(Feel free to contribute but remember to direct comments about pot holes to LCC, and we do NOT do negative or nasty on this page 😁)

If you were up and out early today it was the best time to see the year's first full moon over St Annes on Sea.

According to the Royal Museum at Greenwich, a process called syzygy means the most spectacular view of some full moons is am, not pm.
Full moons are also the best time to see very high tides along our coast!
To help you time your visits to the beach, here is a complete guide to 2026 full moons. It includes the best time to see it.

Changes done and planned, but the fingerprints of our Victorian founders are still clear on the Square in St Annes on Sea.

"Sit awhile, away from the noise, on the edge of it all.
You can breathe the air and listen to nature’s call.

Sit awhile, someone else may come share your seat.
And the kindness of strangers is what you'll meet.

Sit awhile, without guilt or haste.
Because a wonderful view should never go to waste. "

There are talking-friendship benches at St Annes on the Sea Rail Station, Fairhaven Lake, and Lytham Park Cemetery & Crematorium. But, we also have many other local places for a moment of mindfulness, or an opportunity to chat with new people.

This **NEW** antique and retro memorabilia shop on The Crescent replaces a retail outlet that had been there for many years.

The Seagull's Treasure Chest used to be a shop selling framed sports and music prints, didn't it? It was a mystery as it never seemed open, yet stayed there for many years. Anyone know different?

Anyway, this new shop adds to a GREAT selection of places to get antiques and preloved items in St Annes on Sea.

Highly recommend you visit this **NEW** cafe, along with the other quirky independent shops on St Andrews Road South (just off The Crescent.)

Mabel's Coffee Lounge St Anne's serves freshly made food, and lovely owners Tracey and Red provide a very warm welcome. They are also full of ideas and enthusiasm when it comes to supporting our family-friendly seaside town.

The cafe is dog friendly too.

Welcome Tracey and Red and all best wishes with your new venture.

Why is this church on St Annes Road East called Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church?

Many coastal communities embraced the idea of Mary being the guiding star for seafarers. However, this belief may have been a mistranslation of her Hebrew name (Miryam meaning a drop of the sea). It led to her being given the name Stella Maris, or Star of the Sea.

The church has a lovely parish centre on St Albans Road, hosting welcoming open events for local people.
