The aim of our home is to provide a safe, warm, healthy living environment within the extended family of this home. The home will provide, in consultation with the service user, the required level of support that is needed for each user to function at their optimum potential. We will recognize that each service user is an individual with their own exclusive needs and therefore individuality and independence will be encouraged. Basic fundamental rights such as privacy and dignity are not surrendered on admission and remain an important part on the whole. The element of risk in each individual lifestyle will be assessed and monitored to ensure maximum protection for them and others. It is recognized that all activities carry a certain amount of risk, and that tolerance of this risk is personal. Staff will be trained to standards that enable them to competently support and encourage an individual, as well as to recognize and rectify any problems that may arise. Any intervention by them will be done in a safe and sympathetic manner. Staff will be continually assessed and regular training provided for them.
