This afternoon we have had a lovely nature based activity making bird feeders to hang around our garden. Some residents have been watching the birds recently whilst in the garden and from their rooms. Now they have plenty of food to hopefully keep them coming back and attract more! It is so lovely bird watching, we hope to even spot some squirrels soon. The feeders have been placed around the garden and in view of some of the rooms so we can observe any little visitors! Unfortunatley the weather was windy and very wet this afternoon so we held the activity in the lounge with scenic views and bird sounds on the big screen in the background. Nature based activities provide meaningful engagements and give a sense of purpose and calm.

A wonderful Wednesday for us today at Starr Hills, being outside in the garden lots and enjoying the sunshine and fresh air whilst the weather has been glorious for a change! On top of that we have had a lovely afternoon with a pop up clothes shop coming out to visit us. Jo from Dotty and Mabel brought her clothes out to us for a bit of retail therapy. Everyone enjoyed looking at the clothes and accessories and chatting away to the lovely ladies! It's always a pleasure to have Jo and her team visiting us.

Little Easter craft session yesterday afternoon. Crafts are a great way to boost cognitive function, whilst keeping those fine motor skills active. It was a very therapeutic and relaxing afternoon. Creating cards gave the residents a lovely sense of purpose as they decided who they were making them for and the end result gave a great sense of accomplishment. Well done our little crafters.

Happy St Patrick's Day!
A wonderful Irish themed day celebrating! The day started with Irish music in our armchair aerobics session with Hazel and ended with the fabulous Kerry Rogers singing an Irish themed set.
We have also had a very special 90th birthday too!
Another lovely day filled with music, mini Guinness and lots of smiles!

A fun afternoon yesterday having a quiz with a twist. One of our family members delivered a picture quiz on the big screen in the cinema. We do encourage others to get involved here at Starr Hills, especially if they show interest or approach me with ideas. This was a wonderfully prepared and delivered activity. The residents enjoyed the session, it had us all thinking and reminiscing of old photos and logos. Involving others, such as family members in our activities is a lovely way to build additional bonds and a sense of community within the home.

We’re proud to be part of MHA, which has once again been recognised as one of the Top 20 Large Care Home Groups in the UK by carehome.co.uk – for the ninth year in a row!

This recognition is based on feedback from residents and their families, which makes it especially meaningful.

A big well done to colleagues across MHA for the kindness, dedication and care they show every day. We’re proud to be part of it. 💛

A very windy walk over to The White Church today for coffee morning. Once there we had a lovely time and met a local Author who was selling his recent book and donating all proceeds to charity. As always a lovely morning out in the community!
It was our last day today with Brooke our student! She has been a pleasure to have with us and will be greatly missed.

A full table and a lovely time at the White Church for coffee morning yesterday. It was lovely to see everyone there and it was another lovely sunny Spring morning for our walk there and back. Eileen our volunteer has just had her birthday, so a little surprise birthday sing song and a cake was presented to her. Happy Birthay to you Eileen! Thank you for all you do for us at Starr Hills 🥳
