Congratulations to Ping our Chef for getting staff member of the month for December. Ping always goes above and beyond for the residents and staff, with her kind and caring nature. She takes great pride in her work and demonstrates having a personal impact on others.

Seize The Day.
A bright and fresh day yesterday, provided a perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy our local surroundings. A lovely walk around Granny's Bay, interacting with others, enjoying the views then back to warm up with a hot chocolate and some nibbles. A lovely one to one.

A snippet from last week. We are keen to keep everyone moving throughout January. It is easy to reduce movement when temperatures drop. We know that feeling of wanting to be cosy, warm and wrapped up to be left unbothered, but is so important both for mental and physical health to keep moving and be around others! So we have spent the week getting together and having fun whilst moving!
It was wonderful to have Hazel back last week for the first time since the festive break. We had a full room for bingo, history club, the big quiz and the Starr Hills service. We had lots of fun and laughter with our soft ball game session Friday morning and finished the day off with a jolly sing along, which of course lead to dancing! A lovely first week back filled with lots of smiles!

As we say goodbye to 2025, we take a moment to reflect on a year filled with so many special memories at Starr Hills. We have shared laughter, celebrations, quiet moments of kindness, and everyday joys that have meant so much to our residents, families, and staff.
We also pause to remember and hold close in our hearts those we have sadly lost this year. They remain a cherished part of our Starr Hills family, and their memories will always stay with us.
Looking ahead to 2026, we do so with hope and gratitude — excited for new experiences, more shared smiles, and many more precious moments together.
From all of us at Starr Hills, we wish our residents, families, friends, and staff a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year. 💙✨

What a fantastic Christmas party we had today for our lovely residents, family and friends!!!
All the smiles are truly heart warming!
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us, donated raffle prizes, bought tickets and brought joy and merry energy to our festive afternoon!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of having a visit from Sam the CEO of MHA. Here's a little comment of his feedback we recieved. The residents and staff had a lovely morning meeting him.

“Really enjoyed my visit to Starr Hills yesterday. The warmth and sense of community was palpable as I met those who live and work at the home. It was also lovely to see the creativity that has gone into making the home such a special place, with its own volunteer run shop and stylish cinema and cafe, designed to remind folk of picture-houses they’d have visited in their earlier years.”

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We have kicked off the week with a festive bang! The decorations are up and the festive music is flowing around the home. Mince pies and baileys are loaded up and we have had a lovely last two days with much more to come throughout the week!
A festive and fun afternoon was had today over at The White Church for Music and Mince pies with the Parkinsons Charity. The ukuele band was in full swing and the festive refreshments went down a treat!
