What a beautiful way to spend a week of love and connection 💕

This week, Connect Community Choir was delighted to hold our ‘Love Is All Around’ event at AKS School, bringing people together through music, kindness and shared voices.

It was a real joy to hear the AKS Chamber Choir sing music by John Rutter, alongside songs from ‘Rent’ and sang alongside Connect Community Choir.

Singing side by side reminded us just how powerful music can be in breaking down barriers and building connection.
We loved seeing the I Hope Team, Visiting Angels Fylde Coast, Lytham Dementia Choir, choir friends and family all in the room together – sharing songs about love, compassion and belonging.

Moments like this truly show how singing can reduce isolation, support wellbeing and strengthen our community.

Huge thanks to AKS School, their wonderful teachers and talented young musicians – we really hope this is the start of an exciting and meaningful partnership

Thank you as well to our brilliant volunteers, everyone who helped create such a warm welcome, and for the excellent coffee, cake and time to connect (always just as important!).

Music, community, care and connection – exactly what this week of Valentine’s is all about 💞
If you were there, we’d love to hear what it meant to you.

creative communities grow, connections deepen, and people find their voice together.

Singing for Creative Health is about shared moments:
breathing together, listening, laughing, and leaving a little lighter than we arrived.
Here’s to partnership, people, and the simple power of singing 🎶
Stronger together. Always.

Happy New Year 🥳 🎶

As we look back on this year at Connect Choir, one thing feels clearer than ever: how vital connection is and how powerful it is when we find it through singing together as a community.

We hold with love the memory of the Connect Choir members we’ve lost this year. It has been such a privilege to sing with them over the years, sharing music, laughter and moments that will always stay with us. They remain part of our song.

We’re also reflecting on the creativity that has carried us forward; the cross-generational projects, the partnerships we’ve built, the spaces we’ve been welcomed into, and the brave step of moving to a new home as our choir continues to grow. All of it has helped us keep moving with positivity, care and hope.

Thank you to everyone who supports Connect. Your time, energy and contributions make it possible for us to deliver our weekly Singing for Creative Health sessions and continue building resilient communities through music.

If you know someone you think might enjoy singing with you, please feel free to tag them in this post and help us share the joy of singing.

Here’s to an exciting 2026 full of new creative memories and a new chapter in supporting communities through singing 🎶

More than a choir – choirs create families

As the year drew to a close, our Connect Community Choir came together for a truly magical Christmas dinner at the Bedford Hotel in Lytham St Annes. Moments like this remind us that what we’re building is about so much more than singing.
Our Wellbeing Director, Jayne, organised the lunch with such care and intention. From thoughtfully planned place settings that gently encouraged members to meet new friends they might not usually sit with, to personally writing everyone’s dinner choices onto place cards for over 60 members – Jayne always goes the extra mile to make our spaces as welcoming, accessible and inclusive as possible.
So much of the research, planning and pastoral care that goes into these events isn’t always seen, but it’s deeply felt. What is seen is the laughter, the connection, and the sense of belonging around the table. Our members had a fabulous time and were incredibly grateful to be able to connect at Christmas.
However you’re celebrating (or resting) over the festive period, we wish you a peaceful break and thank you for being part of our Connect family 💫

We finished our Connect Community Choir season with a gentle, meaningful morning of singing at The Harbour here in Blackpool.
The Harbour is a place that quietly and compassionately supports people through mental health challenges, offering care, dignity and steadiness at times when life feels heavy. Christmas, for many of us, can stir up all sorts of feelings, and we know it isn’t always an easy season.
This is why Singing for Creative Health matters so much to us. Singing together breaks isolation, builds personal resilience, and supports mental health, not by fixing or rescuing, but by showing up, breathing together, listening, and connecting. It’s one of the real highlights of our year.
We loved forming a little mini staff choir, the Harbour team were absolutely fabulous, warm, and generous, and it was a joy to sing alongside them. And just as important was what came after: mince pies, hot drinks, and time to chat, laugh, and properly connect. That shared space after the singing, where people can mix, talk, and simply be human together really matters, especially at Christmas.
A big thank you to everyone at The Harbour for welcoming us so openly, and to our Connect singers who continue to show how music can hold us through the difficult moments we all face in life.
Ending the season this way felt just right 🎶

What a morning at The Well Centre !
Our Christmas sharing event was filled with joy, connection and the most gorgeous music. Mayfield Primary School Choir were an absolute delight to watch and to sing with. Such confidence, heart and sparkle. 🌟

Connecting across generations at Christmas feels more important than ever, and today showed the real magic of Singing for Creative Health: lifting each other up, building community, and sharing moments that stay with us long after the last note fades. 🎶❤️

A huge thank you to our wonderful Connect volunteers who keep everything running smoothly, and an extra-special thank you to our community director Jayne, whose planning, care and creativity made this such a beautiful event.

We’re also deeply grateful to Marsdens Building Society in Lytham for supporting this event and helping us bring people together at this time of year.
Wishing everyone a peaceful, connected and joy-filled Christmas.
From all of us at Connect Community Choir 🎄✨

We’re Singing with the World! 🌍

This week Connect Choir proudly took part in World Singing Day, joining voices with people across the globe through the power of song. Over 100 brilliant community singers came together with us – what an incredible sound and spirit!
We were especially thrilled to be joined by the fabulous Travelling Strings so yes… we literally got to “sing with the strings!” 🎻🎤 The joy was real.
There was singing, laughter, a bit of dancing and swaying, plenty of connection and that amazing feeling of being part of something bigger than ourselves. It’s powerful to know we were singing alongside communities all over the world.
Here’s to unity through music, and to everyone who raised their voice with us!
