As the days grow shorter and the air turns colder, this time of year can stir emotions in unexpected ways, especially for those who are grieving.

You’re not alone if this season feels heavier than usual. Take things one day at a time, and let the quiet moments be what they need to be. 🤍

GIVE THEM THE TIME
Funny how funerals are the only time families show up without excuses.
Everyone suddenly has the time. The money. The cleared schedule.

But when you were alive?
They were “too busy.”
They “meant to call.”
They “couldn’t make it this time.”

Death shouldn’t be the only RSVP people honor.
If you can come sit at my casket, you could’ve sat on my sofa.
If you can show up with flowers when I’m gone, you could’ve shown up with coffee when I was struggling.

Stop waiting until someone’s gone to finally give them the time you claimed you never had.

How true is this though xx🙏💙

What can you include in a coffin for cremation? 🕊️

Planning a cremation can feel overwhelming, and it’s natural to wonder what personal items can safely be included with your loved one. Here’s a guide to help:

Coffins should be made of wood, cardboard, or other combustible materials, as these are suitable for cremation. Personal keepsakes such as letters, photographs, or treasured jewellery can be included to honour memories. Watches are also allowed, as long as the batteries have been removed. Clothing made from natural fibres like cotton, silk, or wool is preferred, as it helps reduce emissions.

There are some items that cannot be included in a coffin for cremation. Pacemakers are removed by a medical professional for safety reasons. Glasses or glass items, aerosols, and rubber items, including shoes, are not permitted. Phones, remote controls, or anything containing a battery cannot be included, and lighters or anything that could explode, such as fireworks or fun snaps, are also prohibited. Aluminium or other non-combustible coffins cannot be used for cremations but can be on standard burial grounds. Items such as shoes and glasses can be returned to the family if they wish.

For burials, most personal items are allowed unless it’s a natural burial site, where restrictions may apply on non-natural clothing, shoes, or certain items.

At AJ Lloyd, we understand that every detail matters. We’re here to offer guidance and support, ensuring that the wishes of your loved one are honoured safely and respectfully. So if you’re not sure, please just ask. 💙

There’s a clock ticking over all of us.
We can’t see it.
We don’t know when it runs out.

But one day it will.

So love hard.
Say what you mean.
Hold the people who matter.
And stop wasting time on the ones who don’t.

Because the truth is, tomorrow isn’t promised,
and one day, the clock will hit zero xx

Sensitive but we feel as coffin manufacturers it’s important that no family should face funeral costs alone. In England contributions are available up to £300 towards a coffin. Ask your funeral director about how to claim and how to create something personal.
