D Med Epilepsy Training At D-Med Epilepsy Training we offer specialist Epilepsy Awareness and Emergency Medication training for health and social care professionals in East Anglia

Typical course modules include:
​
- Defining epilepsy, psychosocial factors and social stigma
- The nature of epilepsy and record keeping
- First aid procedures to manage seizures and accessing local and national agencies
- Assessment of risk & emergency intervention
- Anti-epileptic medication: how it works, drugs used and the side effects.
- Demonstration and simulation: how to apply emergency medication
- Duty of care and ethical issues
- Discussion on the procedures and administration of Buccal Midazolam​

Learning outcomes of the course include:

- Gaining an understanding of contributing factors, and risk assessment
- Achieving a working knowledge of medication and their administration
- Identifying the signs for emergency intervention and being able to action this intervention as necessary

Certificates are given upon completion which are valid for up to 2 years. I have a MSc in Epilepsy practice and am a nurse prescriber.
