Clinic morning essentials - first coffee (obviously) then it's a look at my Carebit practice management system to check my patients and the day's work. I use a reMarkable tablet to make notes on my consultations before dictating letters and notes. Listening and accurate recording is key. For examining a great bit of kit is my dermatoscope which allows me to look at the skin close up. I also carry a proper camera to ensure I have top quality photo documentation. No wonder my bag weighs a ton! 😎😂

Just popped over to Brussels with Spirecut to see the minimally invasive hand surgery experts in action with ultrasound guided surgical techniques galore (and have an obligatory small beer obviously). Just a reminder that lots of procedures can be performed under local anaesthetic (LA). You're awake, you have a small injection, the procedure is carried out, and you're on your way home before you know it. Here's me at the slick Healthshare Clinic this week, but I offer the same at Spire Norwich Hospital and out of hours at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, too. So, it's always worth asking, "Can you do it under LA?" 😷👌😎

Trip down memory lane. This certificate just popped up via Facebook with a message 'better late than never'😂😎. Reminded me of what an amazing time I had in Perth, and more broadly the friendships I've made, the opportunities I've had, and the training and experience I've accrued over my career....and I'm only 27 years in!😲 Need to also acknowledge the huge supporting role my wife has played in all this too.🙏😘

This reminder popped up on my phone this morning - 5 years ago today I was working out how to safely operate with loupe magnification using a protective mask from my shed! If only we knew then what we know now....

Ear keloids. Essentially, it is an overactive scar, with the ear being a high-risk site, mainly from piercings. I usually cut these out (debulk them) and then use steroid injections and a custom pressure clip to reduce recurrence. Here's one from today with the impressions used to create a pressure clip to be applied shortly after the stitches are removed post-op. Thanks to the amazing Oral Health Lab team at NNUH for their skills (and the patient for kindly consenting to my using their photo)
