Strokes can affect anyone of any age even children. Stay informed with the Stroke Association 🧡

Every 22 minutes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, a stroke patient makes their own way to hospital.

Why is this a problem?

1️⃣ Stroke treatment is time sensitive and has to be delivered within a short window of opportunity. Any delay to treatment can result in fewer options, increasing the risk of long-term disability and death.

2️⃣ Paramedics know which hospitals offer specialised stroke care, and can fast-track brain scans on the move.

3️⃣ Patients arriving by ambulance can be admitted straight to an acute stroke unit, which has been shown to save lives and improve recovery outcomes.

4️⃣ If you arrive at the wrong hospital, you may need to be transferred. This is lost time.

'Getting to the right place for rapid and effective treatment can make the difference between a stroke patient walking out of hospital or leaving in a wheelchair,' said Professor of Stroke Medicine, Deb Lowe.

We understand that some stroke patients may have self-presented at hospital with some success, but stroke is a medical emergency. If you think you or someone else are showing the signs of a stroke, think FAST and call 999 straight away. Ambulance paramedics are trained in stroke and will take you to the best hospital for specialist treatment.

Q&A: Does CFA work with selected care providers?

No – and here’s why.

CFA is completely independent.
We’re not tied to any care providers, we don’t take commission to push certain homes, and we never work off pre-arranged lists.

We always start with a fresh search for our clients. Our advice is always based on what’s best for you.

Because what matters to us isn’t selling care – it’s improving it 💙

💬 We believe the best care happens when:

*The provider can genuinely meet the person’s needs

* Everyone knows what to expect from the start

* Families feel heard and understood

*Meaningful feedback is used to improve services - not just tick a box

That’s why we:
✔ Recommend providers based on what they do
✔ Make sure care matches are truly aligned
✔ Support families after the move
✔ Share your feedback to all providers to help care improve for everyone

We want to reduce the stress, burden and heartbreak of placements that don’t work – for families and providers alike.

If that mission speaks to you, help us spread the word.

CFA North Star ✨
Behind every care story is a person at the centre; someone’s parent, partner, child, or friend.

We believe consistent, good, sustainable care can only happen when everyone in the care ecosystem, families, providers, carers, and communities is seen, heard, understood, and supported.

When we share the same goal and have the support to reach it, we can get it right for the person at the centre of care.

Because one day, that person could be you… or someone you love.

This belief guides every connection we make, every match we help create, and every story we work to improve. 💙

CARE STORIES | When You’re Stretched Too Thin

“I was trying to be a good daughter, a good mum, and a good manager, all at once.”

Sound familiar?

This is the reality for so many in the sandwich generation who are juggling work, kids, and elderly parents, often without enough hours in the day or anyone to guide the way.

“I was dropping the kids at school, answering Mum’s GP calls in meetings,
Googling care homes with one hand and folding laundry with the other.
All while trying not to fall apart.”

She kept thinking:

“What if I choose the wrong place?”
“What if she needs more than I can give?”

She didn’t want to let anyone down.
But she couldn’t keep doing it all.

Then she found Care Finder Assist and everything changed.

We listened.
We organised.
We guided.
And suddenly, she wasn’t alone anymore.

🏡 Her mum found a home where she felt safe and supported.
💙And for the first time in a long time, she could just breathe.

At CFA, we believe no family should face care decisions alone.

We help you navigate care options clearly, quickly, and free of charge.
Whether you need home care, residential care, or just someone to explain the system, we’re here.

📝 TIPS FOR CARERS: Small changes that can make a big difference

Caring for a loved one can be incredibly rewarding — but it can also feel overwhelming and lonely at times.

At CFA, we don’t just help families find care, we’re here to support carers along the way, too – Because carers need care, too. 💙

We’ve put together some small, practical tips that can make things more manageable.

🔹 Create a care log – track patterns, moods, and medication
🔹 Make a comfort kit – include calming items for moments of distress
🔹 Ask for help early – don’t wait until you’re burnt out create a contact list
🔹 Use a visual planner – a predictable routine can reduce anxiety
🔹 Speak in the ‘now’ – avoid correcting, meet them where they are

These small shifts can ease stress, reduce confusion, and help you feel more in control day to day.

💬 Keep an eye out - We’ll be sharing more helpful tips like these regularly.
