📣 5 Tips for Better Posture ❗

Do you spend your days sitting at a desk for work? 🤔

If you do, you may experience occasional neck or back pain if you don’t maintain good posture throughout the day.

These 5 tips will help to improve your posture and reduce back pain while sitting at your desk:

✅ Adjust your chair so that your feet rest flat on the floor or a footrest. This will help to keep your spine in alignment.

✅ Keep your knees at or below the level of your hips. This will also help to keep your spine in alignment.

✅ Adjust your chair to support your back or place a rolled towel or small pillow behind your lower back. This will help to support your spine and prevent it from rounding forward.

✅ Keep your shoulders relaxed and down. Avoid hunching your shoulders forward.

✅ Take breaks throughout the day to move around and stretch. This will help to keep your muscles loose and prevent them from becoming tight.

If you're experiencing neck or back pain, don’t suffer in silence; contact us for a consultation to discover how physiotherapy can help.⠀

✨ Direct Access Physiotherapy ✨ Ormskirk ✨ No GP Referral Needed ✨⠀

What does “Direct Access” mean to a person seeking physiotherapy treatment?⠀

Simply put, "Direct Access" means you can see a physiotherapist without getting a referral from your GP or hospital, as referrals are sometimes required to access physiotherapy treatment, especially after surgery or an accident.⠀

In some countries, such as the UK, you can usually see a physiotherapist without a referral for most conditions.⠀

However, there are exceptions. Such as if you are under 16 years old or have a specific condition requiring a GP or hospital assessment.⠀

If you’re unsure whether you need a referral, it is always best to check with your GP, hospital, or physiotherapist.⠀

Here are some benefits of "Direct Access" physiotherapy:⠀

✅ You can access physiotherapy treatment more quickly.⠀
✅ You can choose your physiotherapist without being limited to those on your GP's or hospital referral list.⠀
✅ You could save money. Some private health insurance plans cover physiotherapy without a referral.⠀

If you are considering physiotherapy, this could be a great way to access the treatment required quickly and easily.⠀

If you’d like to know more about our “Direct Access” physiotherapy services, please get in touch.⠀

We know a bad back is no laughing matter, so before lifting anything, remember these 5 things 👇👇👇

1️⃣ Assess the load

Before you lift anything, take a moment to assess the load. How heavy is it? Is it balanced? Is it awkward to handle? If you're not sure if you can lift it safely, ask for help.

2️⃣ Get a good grip

Make sure you have a good grip on the load before you lift it. This will help you maintain control and prevent the load from slipping.

3️⃣ Bend your knees and keep your back straight.

When you lift, bend your knees and keep your back straight. This will help you avoid putting strain on your back.

4️⃣ Lift with your legs

Don't try to lift the load with your back. Instead, use your legs to lift the load. This will help you lift more safely and easily.

5️⃣ Avoid twisting

If you need to twist, turn your whole body, not just your waist.

What are the benefits? 🤔

Being able to lift correctly can benefit you in the following ways:

✅ Reduces your risk of back pain and other injuries
✅ Improves your lifting performance
✅ Increases your productivity
✅ Helps you stay safe at work

⚠️ Remember, lifting correctly is important for your occupational health. Following these simple steps can reduce your risk of injury and help you stay safe at work.

🛌💤 Sleep Awareness Week: Rest, Recover, and Recharge! 💤🛌

Did you know quality sleep is as important as exercise and nutrition for your overall health? 😴✨

✅ Boosts Recovery - Sleep is when your body repairs muscles, reduces inflammation, and strengthens your immune system. It is essential for athletes and anyone staying active!

✅ Enhances Performance – A well-rested body improves coordination, reaction time, and endurance - key for sports and daily movement.

✅ Reduces Injury Risk – Poor sleep affects balance, concentration, and muscle recovery, making you more prone to injuries.

💡 How Does Physiotherapy Fit In?

Physiotherapists can help improve your sleep by addressing pain, tension, or mobility issues that keep you tossing and turning.

Whether it's posture correction, relaxation techniques, or injury recovery, we can help you sleep soundly and wake up refreshed. 🌙💆‍♂️

This Sleep Awareness Week, prioritise rest! If pain or discomfort keeps you from getting quality sleep, seek expert advice. Your body will thank you! 🙌
