I am constantly using many of my nursing skills in my role as an Aesthetic Nurse.

Clinical assessment, anatomy & physiology, infection prevention, risk assessment, injection technique, communication, emergency awareness, heath promotion - you name it!

We don’t just shop, do Pilates and drink matcha - although I am quite good at those too😉

After your lip filler appointment, one of the most important checks I carry out is capillary refill 💉

This is a quick, gentle test where I apply light pressure to the lips to momentarily blanch the skin, then observe how quickly the colour returns. A healthy, well-supplied lip will regain its colour within seconds.

Why does this matter?
Because it helps us assess blood flow to the area. Dermal filler is placed carefully, but as with any injectable treatment, I always prioritise safety. Checking capillary refill allows me to identify early signs of any vascular compromise. This is a rare complication, but important to monitor.

🎗️As March is Endometriosis Awareness month, I felt it was appropriate to share with you all 💛

Endometriosis is the 2nd most common Gynaecology condition and affects over 1.5 million people in the UK, yet it is often dismissed or misunderstood.

For me, it’s the exhaustion that people don’t always see.
Dealing with a level of pain daily, it has just become part of my ‘normal’.
Juggling work, relationships, and everyday life while dealing with chronic symptoms that can be unpredictable, annoying, overwhelming and extremely painful at times.

It’s lots of things! But I believe talking about things, being open and creating a space for others to do the same is always welcomed 💛

I have many of you in clinic talk to me about all things women’s health, periods, HRT, endo! It’s good to talk and share experiences🫶🏻

For anyone dealing with similar, or would just like a confidential venting board - I’m all ears ✔️🌝🌼🍋🧀🎗️
