Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity Raising funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust to give patients the best possible care ✨🧡

Here at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity, we are dedicated to making a difference to the thousands of patients treated at our hospitals every year. Incredible things are happening across our hospitals each and every day, but there will always be a need for those added extras that can make all the difference to our patients. This is where our charity comes in; we’ve made it our mission to help fund the items at our hospitals which are over and above what the NHS can provide. We make this possible by raising vital funds to ensure our hospitals are equipped with the very latest in technology, enabling vital research and making our hospitals a little more comfortable for patients and their families. With your support, we can ensure that the patients treated at our hospital have the best possible care, in the very best facilities.

A huge thank you to Childrens Hospital Pyjamas for their incredibly kind donation! 🙏🧡

Thanks to their generosity, 92 pairs of brand new pyjamas have been donated to our children’s ward. Eliza and Oscar (aged 4 & 6), who are currently on the ward, are pictured wearing some of the lovely PJs ✨

Children’s Hospital Pyjamas is a charity that collects brand new pyjamas for poorly or disadvantaged children in hospitals and hospices, helping to provide comfort at what can be a very difficult time.

We are always in need of new pyjama donations for the children’s ward at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - if you would like to help, please get in touch. We really appreciate your support! 🥰

A new handheld Doppler is helping enhance care for patients on the Critical Care Unit at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 🏥✨🧡

This new equipment has been introduced to support staff in assessing peripheral blood flow quickly and effectively. The non-invasive ultrasound tool provides immediate, audible evidence of arterial or venous circulation - which is vital for patients experiencing poor circulation, shock or suspected vascular blockages.

Portable and easy to use at the bedside, the Doppler will play an important role in daily patient assessments across the unit.

Janet Bolton, Lead Clinical Educator for the Critical Care Team, said the equipment will be used every day, benefiting approximately 14 to 28 patients each month and helping staff make timely clinical decisions.

The Doppler was funded thanks to a generous donation to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity from a grateful patient, given in appreciation of the care and support they and their family received 🥰

Thanks so much to everyone at Headway Central Lancashire for their generous donation of a 60” TV for the day room on Barton Ward (NRU) at Royal Preston Hospital! 🏥 🧡👏

Barton Ward at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist in-patient neurological rehabilitation, and this fantastic addition will make a real difference to patients during their stay. The TV will be available at all times, giving patients who are able to, along with their relatives and friends, a welcoming space to relax, chat and enjoy time together - whether that’s watching films, sport or their favourite programmes.

Carol Parker, NRU Barton Ward Clerk, said:
"Barton Ward (NRU) would like to thank Headway for the donation of a TV for the day room, and also the charity team for supporting the installation costs. The TV will enable patients, relatives and friends to use the day room to relax and spend time together. It will also help bring patients together to watch films and sports."

Thank you again to Headway Central Lancashire for supporting our patients and helping to create a more comfortable, social environment on the ward 🥰

Last year, our charity collection tins raised an amazing £3,898.07 for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and Baby Beat! 🧡👏✨

That’s spare change from shop counters, cafe tills, staff rooms, and reception desks across our community - all coming together to make a real difference for patients and families at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

It might be 20p in a pocket or £1 at the till… but together, it adds up to something powerful! If you run a shop, business, or office and would be happy to host one of our collection tins, we’d love to hear from you.

A small space on your counter can make a big difference in our hospitals. Email us on charity@lthtr.nhs.uk to get involved! 🥰

We’d like to give a HUGE thank you to the fantastic team at city centre architectural and multi-disciplinary design practice FWP Ltd, who are once again going over the edge for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity! 🙌🧗‍♂️

For the third consecutive year, FWP Ltd are both sponsoring and taking part in our annual charity abseil – and we’re so grateful for their continued support. Their sponsorship helps us cover essential event costs, meaning we can keep registration fees as accessible as possible and ensure that as much money raised as possible goes directly into our charitable funds 🧡

This year’s abseil takes place on Saturday 9th May, and will see brave participants clamber to the top of Holcombe Moor’s iconic Peel Tower (almost 40 metres / 128 feet high!) before taking a leap of faith and descending back down to ground level using a rope!

Last year, 35 incredible participants took part and raised more than £5,000 to support projects at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. These funds help us provide specialist equipment, support clinical research, enhance patient comfort and fund staff wellbeing initiatives - above and beyond NHS provision.

Now in its fourth year, our abseil is growing bigger and braver every time – so secure your place before your diary fills up!
