Raising funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust to give patients the best possible care ✨🧡

Here at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity, we are dedicated to making a difference to the thousands of patients treated at our hospitals every year. Incredible things are happening across our hospitals each and every day, but there will always be a need for those added extras that can make all the difference to our patients. This is where our charity comes in; we’ve made it our mission to help fund the items at our hospitals which are over and above what the NHS can provide. We make this possible by raising vital funds to ensure our hospitals are equipped with the very latest in technology, enabling vital research and making our hospitals a little more comfortable for patients and their families. With your support, we can ensure that the patients treated at our hospital have the best possible care, in the very best facilities.

🎄 Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Jingle Bell Jog! 🏃‍♂️💫

Around 100 fantastic runners and supporters filled Preston’s University of Lancashire Sports Arena with festive cheer last Sunday, helping us raise just under £1,000 for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Children’s Fund. This amazing support will help us provide equipment and play items that make hospital visits more welcoming and comfortable for the thousands of children and young people we care for each year. 🧡

From sparkling Christmas jumpers to full festive costumes, everyone truly brought the Christmas spirit - and that included some very special guests! Even the Grinch couldn’t resist joining in, alongside Disney’s Stitch, Santa, Rudolph, and a whole crew of cheerful elves. ✨

A huge shoutout to:
🚑 360 Ambulance Service - for generously sponsoring this year’s Jog and sending an ambulance crewed by dinosaurs!
🔥 Fulwood Fire Station – for attending with a crewed fire engine that delighted families.
🎅 Mascots Delight – for bringing the Grinch and Stitch (looking especially handsome in his Christmas outfit!) to high-five our runners, along with a visit from Santa himself.

The track was filled with laughter and Christmas magic, and we’re so grateful to everyone who ran, walked, volunteered, donated or cheered from the sidelines. 🥰

The wonderful local choir, Singing 4 You, are performing Christmas carols at Waitrose, Capitol Centre today in support of our Children’s Fund Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust- Paediatrics! 🎶🎄

They’ll be there until around 1pm, so if you’re local, pop by to enjoy some festive singing and, if you can, make a donation.

A huge thank you to all the fabulous customers who have been adding their spare change to our collection buckets - your support makes a real difference!

We’re also so grateful to Singing 4 You for their ongoing dedication and support, it’s lovely to see them singing for our charity year after year! 🥰🧡

We want to say a big thank you to Tesco Leyland Extra and their wonderful Community Champion Jean Bolton for their amazing support this Christmas!🎄✨🧡

Tesco have kindly donated chocolate treats for our Give a Gift appeal, helping us bring a little festive cheer to patients spending Christmas in hospital.

They’re also collecting toy donations for young patients at our Broadoaks Child Development Centre, as well as children at Wade Hall Family Centre… and they’ve already filled two whole trolleys! If you'd like to support, you can drop off donations in store until 15th December.

And a little bonus…also on 15th December - our Give a Gift Bus Day - Tesco Leyland have kindly let us take our lunch break in their car park. If you’re nearby around 1pm, feel free to pop by and drop off gifts with us directly! 🚌🎁

🎁 This Giving Tuesday, help us give a gift to every patient at Christmas 🎁

Today is a day all about kindness, generosity and giving back. And this year, the easiest way to support Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity is by joining our Christmas ‘Give a Gift’ campaign!

For many patients, from children to older adults, Christmas will be spent in hospital. We want to bring some festive magic to their day by making sure every person waking up in our care on Christmas morning receives a thoughtful gift. 🎄✨

We’re proud to work alongside Barrie Wells Trust - Box4Kids, an initiative which creates unforgettable VIP experiences for seriously ill and disabled children and their families 🧡

Box4Kids partners with our charity team, and together with our paediatric staff we help put forward young patients treated on Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust- Paediatrics who would love a special day out. We’re pleased to share that parents and carers can now nominate their own children directly as well!

Thanks to the generous donation of executive boxes and hospitality seating at top sporting and entertainment venues across the UK, families can enjoy a safe, relaxed VIP experience together - a much-needed chance to escape, smile and make memories.

Once submitted, the child’s interests and location will be matched with upcoming events, and families will be contacted directly when a suitable experience becomes available.

We want to say a big well done and thank you to Dr Nikki Pilkington, who took on the Amsterdam Marathon on 19th October and raised an incredible £1,452.82 for The SAFE (Sexual Assault Forensic Examination) Centre Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! 👏🏃‍♀️🧡

Nikki works as a Forensic Physician at the centre and wanted to support the service she is so passionate about. She told us: “We serve the whole of Lancashire including Blackpool and Blackburn, so I wanted to raise some money for service users at our centre.”

Nikki - your dedication to helping others, both in your work and through this amazing challenge, is truly inspiring. Thank you for going the extra mile (quite literally!) for the people we care for 🥰

We’re all set for our Jingle Bell Jog this Sunday - and we’re thrilled to announce we’ll have some very special visitors joining us…The Grinch and Stitch from Mascots Delight, plus Father Christmas himself! 🎄🎅🏻🤩 A real treat for the little ones!

Whether you’re jogging, walking, dancing or jingling your way around the 1-mile route, it’s the perfect festive family day out - all while helping to support our Children’s Fund at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It’s just £3 per person to enter, or £10 for a family of four!

If you’re going to be at Royal Preston Hospital this Thursday, make sure you pop down to Charters Restaurant between 10am and 2pm for our Charity Christmas Fair!🎄✨

We’ll have a fantastic mix of stallholders offering festive treats, local crafts, Christmas gifts and more - plus a tombola and some festive carols from the brilliant Singing 4 You choir! 🎶

All funds raised will support Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, helping us make a difference for patients and families across our hospitals.

We’d like to give a big thank you to Mrs Laxmiben Mistry, an 85-year-old widow for her generous donation of £2,001 to support local charities! 🙌🧡🏥

The gift has been shared between our hospital charity (£1,000) to support diabetes projects, and Rosemere Cancer Foundation (£1,001), helping patients in our local community.

Our fundraiser Lucy Clark said: ‘We are very grateful to Mrs Mistry for her fantastic donation. Her love of Preston and its people is very apparent’.

There’s still time to join the festive fun at our Jingle Bell Jog next Sunday 30th November, at University of Lancashire - UCLan Sports Arena in Preston! This 1-mile event is perfect for all ages and abilities, whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun family day out 🤩

Come along, spread Christmas cheer, and enjoy the festive atmosphere with Santa, a fancy dress contest (with prizes for the best costumes!), and the joy of knowing you’re supporting our Children’s Fund. Every step helps brighten the lives of over 10,000 young patients treated at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust each year.
