We’re lucky enough to be next door to Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Football Club and in poll position for their firework display.

Another two fantastic masterpieces were produced in Art Therapy yesterday.

Being November 5th, the theme was fireworks, and these pieces definitely showed our creative spark!
One lady resident really took her time concentrating and carefully choosing colours.

Of course the end results are always amazing, but these sessions are about so much more. They create safe spaces for expression, socialising, and encouraging the use of fine motor skills. It’s also an opportunity for our team members to spend quality time enjoying an activity with their residents too.

We’re so proud of our growing gallery. It’s a symbol of all the time and care that has gone into creating these wonderful pieces, but it’s also symbolic of how much our residents get out of Art Therapy sessions too.

Yesterday’s Sports themed Exercise Therapy.

The winning smiles from yesterday’s Sports themed Exercise Therapy. 

Our Exercise Therapy sessions are designed for all levels of ability and are totally inclusive. They run as group and 1:1 sessions and are held weekly.

Part of rewarding efforts and promoting a sense of achievement is to awards trophies at the end of the session. Here’s some of this week’s winners proudly holding their trophies. You can literally see how delighted they are.

This little poppy making activity created a ‘magic moment’ today.

One lady who all of a sudden started declining to take part in any activities, took part in this activity. We think this might be because the poppy holds meaning for her because both her son and her husband are veterans and both fought for our country.

All residents taking part were proud of the poppies they made as you can tell by their smiles. Don’t they look really effective?!

Last Friday we had our Halloween themed Animal Assisted Therapy session with Zoolab.

It was full of creepy crawlies that for some might have felt really spooky, but our residents were just really intrigued. They learned all about these curious little creatures and were brave enough to handle them all.

Our senior carer Simon took our resident and former rugby coach over to our neighbours Preston Grasshoppers yesterday.

Our ‘Coach,’ you might recall if you follow our pages, has been making significant progress in walking unaided and has even starting to climb stairs unaided too!

It means a lot to our ‘Coach’ to visit the grounds on a regular basis and watch any practices of matches taking place.

He told Simon that the pitch used to be a driving range years ago, something we didn’t know. But you know what they say, ‘every day is a school day!’

Keep up the good work you two. Coach’s progress is inspiring!!

Yesterday’s Magic Music Therapy Monday.

We love Music Therapy Mondays. We are lucky enough to have a full day of Music Therapy every Monday, led by our much loved Music Therapist, Debbie.

Debbie’s a bit like the Pied Piper. Everyone follows her around and loves to get involved in her sessions, even our team members can’t help but get involved!!

Our sessions are either group or 1:1 with individuals depending on the needs of the resident at the time. Every week we see lots of magic moments, from residents taking part for the first time of singing for the first time to one miraculous moment where a resident remembered she could read music and play the piano!!

If you’ve not seen our Music Therapy sessions first hand, try to time your visit and be a part of one. They are wonderful to witness.
