Building into the neighbourhood, providing a helping hand for those who need it, gaining a sense of purpose and working with a team are all some of the benefits that volunteers find when they get involved with helping in their communities. International Volunteer Day seeks to promote and raise awareness about the vital role that volunteers play in the healthy functioning of society and people groups all around the world

November DNA tally is below, this month we removed the following number of patients

DNA = Zero

Non Compliance of medicine monitoring blood tests = 2

Some medications can be very helpful, but they can also affect your body in ways that aren’t obvious right away. Blood monitoring is like a “check-up” for your body while you’re on these medicines. It helps doctors:

Make sure the medicine is working: Sometimes the dose might need adjusting to be effective.

Catch side effects early: Some medicines can affect your liver, kidneys, or blood counts, and problems might not show symptoms until they are serious.

Prevent dangerous levels: Certain medications can become too strong or too weak in your body, which can be harmful or make the medicine stop working.

In short, regular blood checks are like keeping an eye on your car’s dashboard—they alert your doctor to any warning signs before something serious happens. which is why, when we ask patients to comply by having blood tests, we are not doing this for the sake of it, there is a reason behind it and if patients are not complying with these requests, then we are unable to safely manage their health.

Both patients that were removed were given ample opportunities to have the blood tests done, but did not comply sadly and were therefore given 8 days notice to find another surgery.

Common Illnesses

Our team are instructed to use this service when you call for an appointment if you haven't already done so. If the pharmacy is unable to help you, they should let us know and we will be in touch.

Pharmacy First Service

The Pharmacy First service enables community pharmacies to complete episodes of care for seven common conditions following defined clinical pathways which include self care and safety-netting advice and, only if appropriate, supplying a restricted set of prescription only medicines without the need to visit a GP.

Community Pharmacists can supply medicines, if clinically appropriate, for the following conditions,

Acute otitis media 1 to 17 years
Impetigo 1 year and over
Infected insect bites 1 year and over
Shingles 18 years and over
Sinusitis 12 years and over
Sore throat 5 years and over
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections Women 16-64 years

Every pharmacist trains for 5 years in the use of medicines and managing minor illnesses, so they are well equipped to provide health and wellbeing advice to help people stay well. They are also experienced in spotting warning signs, otherwise known as red flag symptoms, which may need a referral to another healthcare provider.

Our reception team can refer you to this service however you can also access this directly by attending your local pharmacy. This allows appointments to be available to patients who are suffering with conditions not covered by this scheme, thank you for your help with this.
