Mothers day member story winner - Nealley Merga đ„°
I joined Pro-Fit for the 28 day challenge on 19th February 2024 and had my first SGPT session on 20th February. At the time I was really struggling with my mental health and had to lose 2-3 stone to reduce my BMI so my husband and I could qualify for IVF.
My husband saw Pro-Fit Bolton when walking the dogs (itâs literally across the road from my street) and after a quick Google, I signed up.
I went from not going to the gym at all to going 5 times a week immediately. I really found the structure of the sessions really beneficial and I felt like the more cardio based sessions complimented the strength programmes.
The thing I love most about Pro-Fit however is the community, and this is the thing that has kept me coming back over the last two years.
This is both with the coaches and the members (and I have made some of the very best of friends whilst at Bolton). I felt I could be candid with the trainers, about our IVF journey. I was given support throughout, whether this be discussing the scales and ways to improve, or being given encouragement when it felt like nothing was going to plan.
I went through three failed embryo transfers and the gym became my safe space to get away from it all.
After our fourth embryo transfer, and finally I got to share the joy of the positive pregnancy tests with the coaches: seeing their reactions to the news really did hit the mantra of âwhen youâre here youâre familyâ.
Throughout my pregnancy Adam and the team have fully supported me to keep moving, despite suffering from pelvic girdle pain since week 16.
I gave birth to little Aeris Elowen at 5:13am on 27th February.
Sunday will be my first Motherâs Day, a day that, at times, I never thought would happen. The Pro-Fit team at Bolton have helped keep me sane throughout the journey, through the highs and lows, and helped me keep my fitness whilst my body went through its toughest challenge yet.
I canât wait to be able to get back back in the gym to rediscover what my body can do, and to teach my daughter how strong her mummy is and the benefits that can be found in training and community.
