I’ve recently been away in Morocco ☀️(sadly back to the British weather now), and it really made me reflect on how much my confidence has grown. I used to be so painfully shy! I remember going on holiday with a group of friends in my early twenties and being ridiculed for being so quiet and awkward all the time. 🙈

On this trip it became a running joke that I’d make multiple friends every day wherever we went, literally just nipping to the loo or grabbing a coffee. I’d walk away for a few minutes and when I got back my friends would ask who I made friends with in that time. 😂

Do you know what changed? My mindset, I’m generally comfortable with myself (we all have the odd bad day), and I realised that everyone I meet has a story, everyone has been through something and that most people are good people at heart and want you to be nice to them. This shift in mindset also had a knock on effect on my body language, other people can unconsciously pick up that I’m open and friendly, and therefore approach me and strike up conversation. It’s a much nicer way to experience life! 💞

I won the northern enterprise award!! 🏆👏🏻

I’m so proud to have won this award, but to be honest it’s the transformations I see every day with my clients that tell me I’m on the right path. The clients that go from living in that dark hole and feeling like there’s no way out, to suddenly seeing the light begin to come back into their eyes. When they start to enjoy their days again, feel confident in their careers and happy in their relationships, be more present parents and friends. That’s why I do this. 🥰

But of course it’s always nice to be recognised! 😄

You are not broken! 📣

You might feel a sense of shame because of your trauma responses, and psychiatrists slapping a diagnosis of a disorder on you can add to that. You might feel that things are hopeless and you are beyond help, and even the word healing implies there’s something wrong with us and we need to fix it!

I’m here to tell you that this is 100% not the case and there is hope for you! 🩷

Your trauma responses are simply adaptations in the brain that are completely natural. Your brain, very cleverly, responds to threat by adapting to keep you safe, the very same responses that cause you pain now likely helped to protect you when you were placed in distressing situations in the past.

Neuroplasticity research shows that our brains are always changing, even way into our 70’s! Isn’t that amazing. 🤩 This means that we can change our brain, building new neural pathways to change our responses and reactions to healthier ones and finally be free to live a better life, feeling more comfortable, safer in our bodies and in the world with a more positive outlook, relationships get easier, and your world will open up in a beautiful way! 🌍
