Between the cracks

Roots drawn across a circular landscape of washed-out mud. The circle mimics the sensation of river water on the swimming body; cool, murky deep swirling up to the warmer, golden shallows. The other pieces in this series have sold out.

The Rivers Run Through Us works are a call to come back into relationship with the swirling, dancing, flowing power and life and joy and love of our rivers. They are an outpouring of love for our rivers. These works shimmering with movement and flow will fill your walls with earth and make you feel alive.

Each artwork has been made by me on the banks of my local river. They are a real and tangible act of creation in collaboration with the river; you can see the mud on the page, the scratches of ink in the marks.

In winter, when it is harder to enjoy time outside, bring the outside in and with these unique, thoughtful gifts for yourself or the river-lover in your life.

As folk who love the earth, there can be a lot of heartache in knowing how much our planet is being impacted by human-driven climate change. The damage we are doing can make us feel angry and helpless.

I wanted to create a way in which the We Are Stardust community can come together to share our love for the earth and process the grief we feel in a constructive way - and the wild journalling community projects were born.

'Among the trees' is the first of these community projects, drawing with our favourite trees in honour of National Tree Week 2025.

Thank you to all members of the ‘Your Wild Journal’ course who participated from across the globe.

I feel the hope in your beautiful mark making.

🌳Share your favourite tree in the comments (and comment 'TREE' for a link to the 30% off sale in my Christmas Shop where you can purchase the course at this discounted price until 12.12.25).

WHEN I AM AMONG THE TREES
by Mary Oliver

When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.
I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, and discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.
Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.
And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say,
“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.”

You don't need to stop making with nature just because the days are darker and the weather cold and wet.

I have collaborated with 4 other nature-led businesses to create something cosy and magical to support you through the dark winter days - including creating alongside nature.

❄️Comment 'winter' to get the link to my newsletter where you'll be the first to hear.
