Maggi and Leanne had a fantastic time at the Nursing Times Workforce Awards yesterday! 🏆

Their nominations celebrate the incredible work they do every day- Leanne as an LD Nurse, and Maggi in training the next generation of nurses. While they didn’t take home a trophy, they are always winners in our eyes.

Huge congratulations to Maggi and Leanne for being shortlisted, and thank you for the amazing difference you make! 💙👏

Good luck to Maggi, our Clinical Nurse Lead, and Leanne, our LD Nurse, as they head to London tomorrow for the Nursing Times Workforce Awards!

They’ll be proudly representing the Sefton Training Hub with the Lancashire & South Cumbria Primary Care Training Hub, who are shortlisted for their Primary Care Clinical Virtual Placement.

We’re also celebrating Maggi, who is shortlisted for Preceptorship of the Year with the Cheshire and Merseyside Training Hub - a fantastic achievement.

And a big shout-out to Leanne, who led a three-hour virtual training session after just one year of being qualified. We’re incredibly proud of her hard work and leadership.

Fingers crossed for the team! 🌟👏

Maggi Bradley, our Clinical Nurse Lead, and Nikki Williams, Social Prescribing and Personalised Care Lead at Brighter Living Partnership, delivered a brilliant menopause training session for our team and staff from GP practices across Southport and Formby Primary Care Network and South Sefton Primary Care Network.

They adapted their Menopause Group Session to support both clinical and non-clinical colleagues.

The next group session is on 2 December, 12–3pm at Southport Community Centre.

Staff feedback said it all: “Brilliant session, very informative, and I’ll use this in my personal and professional life.”

Did you know that nine in ten children, and four in five adults, in the UK are eating more sugar than recommended? This raises the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes and tooth decay – starting from childhood.

This week is all about raising awareness, making informed choices and calling for better food policies to support healthier lives.
(Factsheet here: https://www.actiononsugar.org/resources/ .en.488879)

This Sugar Awareness Week, the theme is ‘Cutting Through the Sweet Talk: What You See Isn’t What You Eat’, highlighting the importance of looking past marketing and packaging.

Terms such as ‘smart snacking’ can distract from the nutritional value of a food.

• Always read the label
• Swap sugary drinks for water
• Choose whole, unprocessed snacks
Try the NHS food scanner to look into labels in more detail: https://www.nhs.uk/healthier-families/food-facts/nhs-food-scanner-app/

A great learning session today for our student nurses, supported by Maggi Bradley. 💙

They took part in training on gambling addiction, delivered by Jon Bennett, Early Intervention and Education Lead from the charity Beacon.

Thank you to Jon for sharing valuable insights into recognising and supporting people affected by gambling-related issues.

Do you or someone you care for have communication needs?

NHS services will ask, record, share, and meet those needs as part of your care.

This could include arranging an interpreter, translating letters, or providing information in large print, braille, or easy read.

If you need support, let your healthcare team know – we’re here to help. 💙

Your next bathroom trip could save your life!
The NHS is now sending free bowel cancer screening kits to everyone aged 50–74 and registered with a GP in England.
If you've already received your screening kit, use it, send it back, and reduce your risk.
Put it by the loo, not on the to-do list.
It’s quick, easy, and could catch cancer early.

Today, on Remembrance Sunday, we pause to honour all those who have served, and those who continue to serve in the Armed Forces.

We remember their courage, sacrifice and dedication.

GP practices across Southport and Formby are proud to be Armed Forces Veteran Friendly Accredited, ensuring veterans and their families receive the care and support they deserve.

We will remember them. ❤️
