For our last week of the Yoga & Massage and Yoga & Play terms we explore heuristic play - using everyday objects to encourage children to explore and use their imaginations. These are probably the easiest sessions for you to recreate at home - we have a few themes we do but all are based around everyday household items. For anyone who's ever bought a baby or toddler a present only for them to prefer the box it came in - heuristic play is tapping into that natural curiosity children have!

Colanders, pegs, cereal boxes, tissue paper...the list is endless, just make sure to check for any small parts or sharp edges. What's your baby's favourite "non-toy toy"?

I came to the baby spa when Callum was around 7 months (photo on the last slide!) but honestly I wish I'd gone at least twice as it's such a different experience when they're tiny compared to when they're a bit older - and both are gorgeous in their own way. We'll often have a real range of ages within one session which is lovely - the groups are small enough and space big enough that it doesn't become too much for the younger ones if the older ones are more lively!

We still have a couple of spaces for our 12.30 session in Ainsdale tomorrow if this has convinced you to try it out!

I've talked to so many mums about how much going for a walk helps them.

When everything feels too much, when it's one of those days where you think surely it must be nearly bedtime now and you look at the clock and it's only 11am, just getting outside can make everything feel a bit easier. Time to clear your head, get some steps in and some vitamin D and reset ready for the rest of the day.

And of course there's all the walks to get baby to sleep - Callum won't nap in his cot anymore so I have to plan my days to make sure I'm either in the car or out walking around lunchtime! In fact my friend took this pic of me without me knowing while we were out for a walk "to get Callum to nap" - took a while as you can see from the pic 😂😂

I love a good pram walk (or pushchair walk or sling walk) and now the days are getting lighter and warmer it's so much easier to do ☀️☀️🌞🌞

Behind the scenes...planning our sessions (with a little "help").

I'm always reviewing our class plans, looking for new ideas to keep things fresh, looking at what worked well and what didn't work so well each week. I'll usually do most of this on a day when Callum is at nursery but when I'm going through toys and props I'll ask for his feedback 😂 (I also clean the toys when I'm packing them to bring to class of course!)
