What a wild way to celebrate an incredible achievement! 🎉

A huge WELL DONE to our amazing Recruitment Hub who absolutely smashed their targets and had a fantastic month – you’ve all worked so hard and this was so well deserved 👏

To say thank you, we invited the wonderful 🦎🐍 Party Central Wildlife Experience Ltd into the office - and they brought some very special guests with them! From curious meerkats and a beautiful bearded dragon to snakes, a tarantula, a gecko and even a skunk… our team were brave enough to hold and handle them all! 🐾

There were plenty of smiles, a few nervous laughs, and lots of unforgettable moments – the perfect way to recognise a month of dedication, teamwork and success 🌟

Meet Amber 💛

Amber is 27 years old and lives at home with her mum in Ulverston. For over a year, our team at Alcedo Care has been supporting her on a specialist two-to-one basis, helping her safely access the community and manage her epilepsy with confidence.

From visits to Barrow Park to feed the ducks 🦆 to building strong, trusting relationships with her care team — this is what person-centred care looks like.

Amber has learning disabilities, ADHD, autism and epilepsy. Thanks to our award-winning nurse-led training, our team is fully equipped to provide specialist support tailored to her needs.

This week for Children’s Mental Health Week 2026, we are reflecting on the theme “This is My Place.” At Alcedo Care, we believe that for a child to truly thrive, they need to feel at home - not just in their houses, but in their communities.

Our children & young people’s services are designed to help make that a reality. We go beyond home care, supporting children with complex needs, learning disabilities and physical challenges to step out into the world and find their "place."

Finding "my place" through social outings & activities: Mental health is bolstered by social connection and confidence. That’s why our support includes:

🏊 Active fun: Accompanying children to swimming sessions and youth groups.

🏖️ Community connection: Supported trips to the beach, local parks and play centres.

🛍️ Building independence: Help with socialising in group settings, shopping trips and community hobbies.
