During my first birth (6 years ago this month!) I was made to feel like a naughty school girl who wasn’t doing birth “right”. I didn’t want to cause a fuss, or inconvenience anyone so I kept quiet - uncomfortable and quiet. My birth certainly wasn’t “bad”, but it didn’t feel the way I had hoped.

My second birth was so different. I trusted my body, I listened to what it told me. (Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t a demanding monster. I kept offering the midwives snacks and drinks between contractions) I felt empowered and frankly, pretty amazing.

And that’s what I want for you. We discuss Dr Grantly Dick-Read in my hypnobirthing course, because even back in 1920, my man knew what was up 💕

I’m always happy to work around you, your work commitments and other children - it’s why private courses are so useful!

Hypnobirthing for a second birth can be very healing, and empowering (I myself can attest to that after 2 very different births!) and I feel so proud of the work that my clients put in towards the birth they deserve 🥰

Did you know only 5% of babies are born in their due date? I was one of those babies, which is lucky because my Mum told them that if I didn’t come out on that day, she didn’t want me 🙈

Sadly my Mum is no longer with us & she passed while I was pregnant with my eldest son, but she used to love recounting my birth story, especially the bit where she told the midwife I was coming, and the midwife dismissed her. In my Mum’s telling of the story, I literally shot across the room and was barely caught and I’m not sure it was quite that dramatic but the image always makes me laugh. This was my first example of the importance of trusting the person in labour - we know our body 💪🏽💕

Wednesday is looking dry 🤞🏼 so I thought it would be perfect for a walk around the Marine Lake & a little catch up, or meeting some new friends. Everyone is welcome, whatever stage you’re at. I’ll be bringing Indiana (who isn’t the wide-eyed baby he is in this picture anymore, but I couldn’t resist!) & he LOVES babies so he’ll be in his element 💕

“Just relax” - we hear it all the time, especially in medical settings - particularly in moments when we likely haven’t ever felt less relaxed! Like many things, relaxing is a skill, and one that takes practise.
