I received this wonderful, well thought poem from one of our clients Anni last night, and it was just too brilliant not to share. Anni has had (and still continues) to have many challenges in her life and this is her first Christmas with yams by her side. Be proud Anni your doing amazing 🥰🌻
First Christmas With Carers
This Christmas feels different, quiet, and new,
With footsteps arriving where once there were few.
They enter with kindness wrapped up in their tone,
And soften the edges of being alone.
The tree keeps on glowing beside my worn chair,
But someone else lifts it and places it there.
Their hands hang the tinsel I used to command—
A gentle reminder I now need a hand.
They ask how I’m sleeping, if pain kept its hold,
If I’d like my tea made before it grows cold.
These questions feel strange, yet tender and true—
A small act of caring I’m learning to view.
Outside, Christmas rushes through glitter and chill,
But here time moves slower, more patient and still.
They button my coat when I struggle to cope,
And lighten the weight I’d abandoned as hope.
No carols explain how surrender can shine,
How letting in help is a courage divine.
Yet sitting here watched over, steady and warm,
I find a new peace in this seasonal storm.
So here in this quiet, with candles aglow,
I’m learning that care can be gentle and slow.
This first Christmas helped by another’s kind art—
A gift softly placed on the doorstep of my heart.
