Peace in the Morning
The world is not yet awake,
and in the hush before voices,
I find a space that holds me.
The air is soft,
still carrying the night’s quiet breath,
and light unfolds slowly,
a tender hand on the shoulder of the earth.
Here, the world remembers stillness.
Branches hold their breath,
water waits without rippling,
and even the wind
lingers at the edge of silence.
Nothing is asked of me here.
No burden pressing, no clock calling,
only the rhythm of my own breathing
meeting the rhythm of the dawn.
In this moment,
I am less burdened by yesterday,
less anxious for tomorrow.
So I learn to sit still,
to notice,
to receive.
Peace in the morning,
a reminder
that each day,
life begins again
in quiet,
in light,
in stillness.
