Basic Cremation – Frequently Asked Questions
When someone dies, not every family wants or needs a formal funeral. A basic cremation can be the right choice for many, and it’s okay to ask questions.
✨Does a basic cremation mean less care?
No. Your loved one is cared for with the same dignity, respect and professionalism as any other service. The difference is simply that there is no formal funeral or gathering.
✨Is there a service or viewing?
A basic cremation does not include a service. It’s a private process, allowing families to grieve quietly or plan a memorial later if they wish; however, a basic cremation can include a viewing if the family desires. Please feel free to discuss any personalisation requests with one of our dedicated team.
✨Can we still have a memorial later on?
Yes. Many families choose to hold a remembrance at a later date, in their own time and in a way that feels right for them and their whānau.
✨Is this option chosen for cultural or personal reasons?
Often, yes. Some families prefer simplicity, privacy, or have loved ones who expressed clear wishes. Others live out of town or want to reduce stress during an already difficult time.
✨Is it okay to choose this even if others might expect a funeral?
Absolutely. There is no right or wrong way to say goodbye. What matters most is choosing what feels right for your family.
✨Will someone talk us through the process?
Our experienced and qualified staff are here to guide our families every step of the way, we are here to walk beside you and guide you through this journey. This is our commitment to you.
