was originally created so everyone could celebrate their skin, flaws and all. For people to realise that skincare means being mindful of what you put inside your body and what you nourish it with externally. Naively, it never occurred to me that I would have to speak up on back to back cases of how dark skin was criminalised, villanised and ultimately snuffed out. Black lives not only matter, but they are necessary, they are loved, they are the birth place of us all. Black man, we appreciate you and we will never stop fighting for you. Protect us. You are our image of strength. Black woman, you are beautiful, use your voice. You are a goddess. You are our image of love. Black boy, laugh, cry and feel all of your emotions. Don't let anyone tell you who you are or what you will grow up to be. You decide. You are our image of joy. Black girl, your hair is beautiful. You are smart. You are not responsible for what others think of you. You are our image of endless potential. Our skin glows. Do not cover it up. Do not hide from the sun. Charge your melanin and blind them with your blessing. Always remember it is a blessing. I see you, I love you, I am you.
Here's to all the brands made by us and for us. And to the brands who always included us because we exist and are worthy of celebration.
To the performative ones, I told my mum about you and now there's no going back.
[Photo my sister, a goddess, a muse. She's good at everything and if that's not black excellence I dont know what is]
