GreenSeatFinder is built upon the following principle: with a charter/taxi trip, once the driver or pilot has transported his customers to a specific destination, he has to return home. Or perhaps he has to go out to a specific location to pick up his customers, and the transport is empty on the way there. (The customer who has booked the original charter flight has paid for the whole trip, but there is an entire "leg" of the trip which is not being used for transport.) It is a win-win situation for all involved if we can put passengers in these empty seats (which we call Green Seats) and fill these trucks- the charter company earns extra income, the passenger has a chance to travel for a greatly reduced price, and everyone involved is acting responsibly from an environmental point of view. In the fixed wing industry, this is called “Empty Legs” but is here applied to all kinds of transports and shipping: aeroplanes, helicopters, limousines, medical transports, flight cargo, shipping trucks etc.
