On Saturday, May 16, 2026, we’re hosting a family-friendly 1.3-mile Walk for Health at the Bethlehem Township Community Center. Every step supports expanded medical, dental and mental health services across Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon and Schuylkill Counties, as well as Phillipsburg, NJ.

Recently, Star Community Health participated in the Teen Summit in Warren County, NJ, hosted by the Center for Family Services and the Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center (DASACC).

More than 200 students from Phillipsburg High School and surrounding districts gathered to learn about mental wellness, healthy decision-making and overall well-being. The summit encouraged teens to make positive choices that help them succeed in school, sports and relationships.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with young people in our community and share resources that support healthy, confident lives.

Our Star Community Health team — and their little leprechauns — dressed in their finest green to march proudly in the 67th Allentown St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 22! ☘️

This was our fourth year participating, and the energy was as bright as the shamrocks. Our team loved celebrating with thousands of neighbors and sharing some festive community spirit along the parade route.

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

On March 17, Star Community Health team members Dr. Tonya Cook, Elyse Perez De La Cruz, LPC, and Dr. Zhi Kuan Quat presented at the Thrive Hub Career Conference at Lafayette College. The event brought together more than 400 high school seniors and college students exploring future career paths, including opportunities in health care.

The Thrive Hub supports underrepresented students as they transition into their professions, focusing on academic success, professional development, well-being, and financial fitness.

We’re proud to support this mission and inspire motivated students as they take their next steps.

Honoring Nearly Four Decades of Compassionate Care

Eugene Decker, DO, a family physician at Star Community Health, has received national recognition from Blood Cancer United for nearly four decades of dedication to patients and families affected by blood cancer.

Over his career, Dr. Decker has cared for more than 175 patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers — supporting them not just medically but emotionally and practically. Through community fundraisers organized with his family, he has helped raise more than $200,000, all directed back to local patients who may need help with transportation, medications or everyday expenses.

As a mentor to future physicians, Dr. Decker continues to model what it means to truly care by being present, involved and human.

Leading the Way in Rural Health Care Access and Quality. ✨

Dr. Mehmet Oz and U.S. Congressman Ryan Mackenzie came to Star Community Health, affiliated with St. Luke’s University Health Network, in Lansford, Pa., to meet with patients and physician leaders — Quynh Hicks, executive director, Star Community Health; Dr. Tonya Cook, dental medical director, Star Community Health; and Dr. Alycia Walty, chief medical director, Star Community Health — to discuss how Federally Qualified Health Centers can improve access to rural health care and to learn more about how St. Luke’s and Star Community Health are leading the way to improve care in rural areas. This is one of the many reasons why the Department of Health and Human Services recognized St. Luke’s as #1 in quality, safety, and patient experience.

❤️ Bringing Heart Health Closer to Home

Star Community Health teamed up with the American Heart Association (AHA) to install a blood pressure self-monitoring station at Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering (BES) located at 75 E Market Street in Bethlehem, PA. The public is invited to use the station to check their blood pressure with AHA-provided kits. Users can also get more information on how to access Star Community Health services. BES staff onsite will respond to inquiries and medical concerns.
