We are excited to announce our new CNO, Stephanie Sands! Stephanie brings over 25 years of experience in managerial and leadership roles to her position as Chief Nursing Officer at Hanover Hill Behavioral Health, including 14 years in nursing leadership and eight years dedicated specifically to behavioral health. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from the University of Phoenix, a degree that reflects her commitment to advancing clinical excellence and compassionate care.

In her role at Hanover Hill, Stephanie leads with a focus on dignity, safety and person-centered care. Her responsibilities span a wide range of strategic and operational functions, all aimed at fostering environments where patients feel supported, understood and empowered in their recovery journeys.

Stephanie’s passion for behavioral healthcare is rooted in a deep commitment to erasing the stigma around seeking help and improving the lives of individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. She finds purpose in guiding teams that prioritize empathy and clinical integrity, ensuring every individual receives the quality care they deserve.

Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys repurposing discarded glass bottles into creative garden borders and hanging tree art, transforming forgotten objects into meaningful pieces. She lovingly refers to herself as a “repurposer,” who sees potential in everything and everyone. Stephanie also cherishes time with her husband, Pete, their three adult children and their two lively cats. She’s especially excited to welcome her first grandchild in December and embrace her new role as “Nona.”

Michelle Williams brings over 30 years of dedicated experience in behavioral health to her role as Director of Clinical Services at Hanover Hill Behavioral Health. She holds a Master’s of Social Work from Marywood University and has worked across a broad spectrum of care settings, including outpatient services, in-home care, residential treatment, substance use disorder programs and acute psychiatric inpatient care.

As the clinical leader, Michelle provides supervision to the treatment staff and ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care. She is instrumental in developing a comprehensive treatment program that serves all individuals who seek care at our facility. Michelle is deeply passionate about advocating for vulnerable populations and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health. She believes every person has unique value and strives to create a supportive environment where individuals can pursue fulfilling lives.

Outside of her professional work, Michelle enjoys sewing, cooking and gardening, activities that reflect her creativity and nurturing spirit.

Kicking off the month of October is another "Leadership Spotlight" and introduction of Annie Ninan! Annie brings over 18 years of experience in Health Information Management (HIM), including a decade dedicated specifically to behavioral health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Temple University and is certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

In her role at Hanover Hill, Annie serves as both Director of HIM and Facility Privacy Officer. She is the gatekeeper of patient information, ensuring that health records are accurate, secure and compliant with the unique privacy standards of behavioral health. Annie’s work safeguards the integrity of clinical documentation and supports ethical, patient-centered care by regulating access and protecting sensitive data. Annie is passionate about contributing to a mission-driven field that goes beyond treating symptoms to improving lives.

Outside of work, Annie enjoys exploring the Lehigh Valley with her family and pup, dressing up for Renaissance Fairs and experimenting with coffee beans and latte art.

Hanover Hill Leadership Spotlight! Meet Jim Zernhelt, our Director of Plant Operations. Jim brings an incredible 36 years of healthcare maintenance experience and more than 45 years of expertise in HVAC systems. A proud graduate of Louis E. Dieruff High School and Lehigh County Vocational Technical School, Jim built his career on a foundation in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and has been dedicated to facilities operations ever since.

At Hanover Hill, Jim leads several essential departments, including Facilities Maintenance, Environmental Services, Food Services, Information Technology, Safety and Security. His leadership helps ensure our hospital runs smoothly, safely and efficiently so we can provide the highest quality behavioral health care.
