In addition to responsible container packaging, we source our labels from a small, eco-friendly company that uses wind-generated electricity & prints only on recycled paper stock. Our labels are also printed digitally, using water-based inks that generate little to no paper waste & no harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs); which are linked to causing cancer & birth defects. So with every purchase, you can rest assured knowing that by choosing PAAVANI you are supporting a conscious attempt to maintain the health of not only your skin, but also our earth.

In Ayurveda, health is built layer by layer through the body’s tissues.

These tissues are known as the dhatus & they describe how nourishment moves through the body over time, gradually forming the structures that support strength, vitality & resilience.

The second dhatu is rakta the tissue associated with blood.

Rakta carries nourishment throughout the body, supports healthy circulation & helps maintain the vitality and color of the skin. When rakta is balanced, the body often feels energized, circulation flows freely & the complexion appears vibrant and clear.

Understanding rakta also offers insight into how Ayurveda views heat, inflammation, skin health & the quality of the blood itself.

As part of our ongoing series exploring the 7 dhatus, we’ve published a new blog introducing rakta dhatu and its role in Ayurvedic physiology.

If you’re interested in exploring Ayurveda through the lens of the body’s tissues, this is a beautiful place to begin.

Spring Cleanse Essentials 🌿

Rather than extreme cleanses, Ayurveda traditionally favors gentle daily practices that help the body clear excess kapha while supporting digestion, circulation & elimination.

A few of our favorite spring practices include:

🧤 Detoxed Skin Stack (Garshana Gloves + Kapha Body Oil)
Dry brushing with raw silk garshana gloves helps stimulate circulation & lymphatic flow, encouraging the body to release stagnation. Follow with Kapha Body Oil to warm the tissues, support circulation & keep skin nourished.

👃🏼 Nasal Care Ritual Kit (Nasya, Neti + Neti Salt)
Spring can bring seasonal congestion & increased kapha in the head and sinuses. A daily nasal care ritual helps keep the nasal passages clear, hydrated & supported as the seasons shift.

🌱 Triphala (Haritaki, Amalaki + Bibhitaki)
This traditional Ayurvedic formula is often used to support healthy elimination & gently clear accumulated ama from the digestive tract. Taken regularly, Triphala helps digestion stay steady & encourages the body’s natural cleansing processes.

In Ayurveda, seasonal cleansing does not need to be intense. Small daily rituals often create the most lasting balance.

As winter softens into spring, kapha season begins to build.

The body often feels it first. Heaviness in the morning. Slower digestion. A little more sluggishness in the body & mind.

In Ayurveda, this is the time to favor foods that are warm, light & gently stimulating for agni (digestive fire).

One of the most supportive meals for this seasonal shift is kitchari!

This traditional Ayurvedic dish made with mung dal, basmati rice & digestive spices is simple, nourishing & easy for the body to process while helping clear excess kapha.

For kapha season, prepare kitchari with warming spices like ginger, black pepper, turmeric, cumin & mustard seed. Our Kapha Spice Blend is pefect to use during your late winter & early spring kitchari making as it has herbs like ginger, black pepper & pippali that are warming & kindle agni.

Remember to add plenty of seasonal vegetables like leafy greens, asparagus, cauliflower or carrots to keep the meal light while still satisfying.

It is the kind of meal that resets digestion without feeling restrictive.

Simple, grounding & deeply supportive as the seasons change.

When most people first learn about Ayurveda, the conversation usually begins with the doshas.

Vata. Pitta. Kapha.

These energies help us understand our constitution, how we respond to stress, how we digest food & how we interact with the seasons.

But Ayurveda does not stop there.

Beneath the doshas is another important framework that explains how the body is actually built, nourished & sustained over time.

These are the dhatus, the seven bodily tissues that form layer by layer through the process of digestion and nourishment.

From the fluids that hydrate the body, to the blood that carries vitality, to the muscles, fat, bones, nervous tissue and reproductive essence that support long term resilience.

Each dhatu receives nourishment from the one before it. When nourishment flows well, vitality builds.

When nourishment becomes disrupted earlier in the chain, deeper tissues may eventually feel the effects.

Understanding the dhatus helps shift the way we view health. Not just managing symptoms, but supporting the body’s deeper process of nourishment and renewal.

If you have ever wondered what Ayurveda teaches beyond the doshas, this is where the conversation begins.

We recently shared a foundational introduction to the seven dhatus on our blog for anyone who wants to explore this beautiful framework more deeply ->

Our eyes carry a lot through the day. 👁️👁️

Screen time. Environmental stress. Long hours of focus. Seasonal dryness.

In Ayurveda, the eyes are closely connected to both pitta & the nervous system, which means they benefit from cooling, soothing rituals that help release accumulated heat & tension.

One of the most traditional practices is Ayurvedic eye washing.

This simple ritual gently rinses the eyes with a cooling herbal infusion to help refresh vision, calm irritation & support the delicate tissues surrounding the eyes.

Regular eye washing may help support:
• Clearer, brighter eyes
• Relief from dryness or irritation
• Reduced eye fatigue from screens
• A greater sense of calm in the nervous system

Our Floral Water was created with this ritual in mind.

We combine rose & lavender with pure deionized water to create a gentle, cooling blend that is perfect for Ayurvedic eye washing since rose helps soothe excess heat while lavender brings a calming, balancing quality that the eyes deeply appreciate.

A small ritual that can bring immediate refreshment.

Simply add Floral Water to your Glass Eye Wash Cup, blink gently & allow the eyes to soften.

If your body feels heavier lately, you are not imagining it.

Late winter carries a quiet weight. The air holds more moisture. Mornings feel slower. Skin, digestion & energy can all feel less responsive.

Kapha season is here.

In Ayurveda, this is the time of year when earth & water qualities increase in nature & within us. When that natural heaviness builds without movement or warmth, we can start to feel dull, congested or stuck.

The good news is that small daily rituals can gently shift the momentum.

Here are 3 Ayurvedic practices to lighten kapha this season:

1. Garshana 🧤

Dry brushing with raw silk gloves before bathing helps stimulate circulation & support lymphatic flow. It awakens the skin & encourages the body to release winter buildup. Just a few minutes each morning can create noticeable lightness.

2. Warm, Spiced Water in the AM 🫚

Kapha thrives in cold & stagnation. Warmth & spice help restore clarity and flow. Sip hot water with fresh ginger, lemon or a pinch of our Kapha Spice Blend to kindle agni & support digestion.

3. Invigorating Self-massage (Self-abhyanga) 💆🏼

Use a lighter oil such as our Kapha Body Oil featuring safflower oil, rosemary & clary sage (to name a few of the delicious ingredients) & massage with more brisk upward strokes. This supports circulation, reduces sluggishness & reconnects you to your body with intention.

Kapha season is not something to fight. It is something to balance.

A few intentional minutes each morning can change how the entire day feels.

Late February often feels different.

Energy runs lower. Digestions slows. Even supportive habits can start to feel less effective.

In Ayurveda, this seasonal shift makes sense. As late winter begins to soften toward spring, heaviness starts to build while the nervous system may still carry dryness and fatigue from the colder months. Together, this can dull agni, the digestive fire.

Rather than turning to restriction or intense resets, Ayurveda responds with warmth, rhythm and gentle nourishment.

One traditional support for this moment is Rose Golden Milk. Light, calming and intentionally simple, it helps soothe the nervous system while encouraging digestion to restore balance naturally.

If your body has been asking for something supportive this season, we shared a new blog exploring why digestion often slows in February and the Ayurvedic tonic traditionally recommended in response.
