Today's been a heavy one on our hearts, that's for sure.
It's the anniversary of 9/11. Hard to believe it's been 24 years. We still remember exactly where we were that day when we heard the news.
We remember both the good & the bad.
The lives that were lost, the families that were torn apart, & the fear that was planted in our nation's heart.
But we also remember the heroes who ran toward danger, sacrificing their own lives for others; the way our community rallied around one another to take care of our brothers & sisters; and the unity that took place under God in our nation.
Here we are 24 years later & we're not only remembering 9/11, but we're also dealing with the fresh sorrow over the assassination of a 31-year old man who outspokenly stood for God, family, & our beloved country. Whether you were a fan of Charlie Kirk's or not, I think the vast majority of us can say that we stand for those 3 things as well.
It's a reminder of how fragile life is, how sharp divisions can become, & how urgently we need compassion, respect, & prayer.
As we reflect today, let us:
- Honor the memories of those we lost by choosing kindness in our words and actions.
- Lend a hand to those hurting, no matter what they believe or where they stand.
- Recommit ourselves to praying β for healing, for justice, & for peace.
Most importantly, we must believe - believe in the promise of light even after darkness & have hope that together we can build a country worthy of remembrance.
May God bless the families still grieving, bless our country, and bless every heart in our community. πΊπΈ
