When Anna Herrin, RN, cares for patients in Orthopedic Surgery, Huntsville Hospital Foundation donors are quietly caring for her family, too. 💚

Her son Alex, a junior at The University of Alabama studying management information systems, is pursuing his education with help from a Huntsville Hospital Foundation scholarship. His dream of attending Alabama started early after attending a Crimson Tide football game with his mom as a kid. 🏈

These donor-funded scholarships help cover housing, books, and living expenses so students can focus on their education, leadership opportunities and preparing for the future.

“The fact that these scholarship funds were provided by donors makes my journey even more meaningful,” Alex shared. “I cannot thank them enough.” 📚

Each year, Huntsville Hospital Foundation awards nine scholarships to employees and their children and grandchildren — investing in the families behind the care our community depends on every day.

Scholarship applications close March 23. View criteria and apply here >>https://www.huntsvillehospitalfoundation.org/images/pdfs/NEWScholarship_Overview_2026_2027.pdf

A heartfelt thank you to the Wells Clayton Whitworth Memorial Foundation for hosting its annual pheasant shoot this weekend in support of families facing the heartbreaking loss of a child.

In honor of their son Wells, Chad and Kelley Whitworth created a foundation that helps parents with burial expenses and grief counseling after the loss of an infant.

Through their partnership with Huntsville Hospital Foundation, the Wells Clayton Whitworth Memorial Fund has supported 322 families at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children and Madison Hospital since its founding in 2018.

Across the Huntsville Hospital Health System, more than 500 families have been helped — reflecting a mission that continues to reach both close to home and across broader North Alabama. 💙

We are grateful to Chad and Kelley and to the many friends and supporters who gathered this weekend to continue this meaningful work.

Their vision for honoring Wells’ memory is bringing comfort, compassion and care to families when they need it most.

Members of our team enjoyed spending time in Birmingham at Momentum's RISE 2026 Leadership Conference, joining more than 1,500 professionals from across Alabama for a day of inspiration, learning and connection.

HHF Director of Development Amy George, Community Engagement Manager Chris Hendley, CFO/COO Tara Speigle and Major Gifts Officer Jennifer Swoboda were grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside leaders from across the state and bring back fresh ideas for leading with courage and clarity in the work we do every day.

We were especially proud to see Amy, a member of Momentum’s Board of Directors, introduce Huntsville’s own PeggyLee Wright as she received the Women of Impact Award.

It was a meaningful moment celebrating leadership that is making a difference across our state.

One of our favorite sounds during the workday is hearing the laughter and playground chatter from the Child Development Center just across from our office. 💚📚

It’s a joyful reminder of the children and families who make up our hospital family.

We love seeing leaders like Jeff Samz, Nichole Shockley and Tracy Wilkerson spending time reading to these little learners during !

Happy 14th Birthday, Madison Hospital ! 🎉

For 14 years, this hospital has cared for families in some of life’s most meaningful and vulnerable moments — welcoming babies, advancing diagnostics, walking alongside patients through healing and loss, and showing up every single day for this community.

As Madison has grown, Madison Hospital has grown right along with it — expanding services to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community, investing in technology that supports faster, more accurate care, enhancing spaces for families, and continuing to raise the bar for what high-quality, compassionate care looks like close to home

And of course, bringing a little extra comfort and joy along the way through a beloved four-legged facility dog, Apple.🐾

These snapshots of milestones, celebrations and moments of impact remind us just how far Madison Hospital has come and how many lives have been touched along the way.

Here’s to 14 years of growth — and to all that’s still ahead. 💙

Today, we join our community in honoring Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon as he retires from public service.

Throughout his tenure, Chairman McCutcheon has been a trusted partner and steadfast friend to Huntsville Hospital Foundation and our public hospitals – championing investments that strengthen safety, access and care for the people of Madison County.

His leadership helped fund innovative safety technology at Huntsville Hospital that tracks real-time incidents. This investment has contributed to a 16% reduction in workplace violence, helping protect the caregivers who serve our community every day.

Most recently, the Madison County Commission approved funding that will help provide a third K9 team for Huntsville Hospital's Security team later this year, strengthening safety for nurses, physicians, patients and visitors across our hospitals.

Chairman McCutcheon also supported the launch of Madison Hospital's acute care transport ambulance, appropriately named MAC 1 in his honor. This state-of-the-art unit helps critically ill patients reach Huntsville Hospital more quickly for specialized services when minutes matter most.

These investments are more than equipment or technology – they represent a commitment to safer workplaces, faster access to advanced care and better outcomes for patients across our growing community.

We are deeply grateful for Chairman McCutcheon’s partnership and service. His legacy will leave a lasting mark on our hospitals and on the health of Madison County.

We celebrated our generous major donors, legacy givers and philanthropic partners at our annual Donor Appreciation Dinner last week. 💚

One guest said the evening felt like a dinner party for 200 close friends — and that’s exactly what we hoped it would be. A night centered on gratitude, shared purpose and the healing power of generosity.

We were honored to recognize three remarkable examples of that generosity in action:
⭐️St. Mark's Lutheran HSV, recipient of the Outstanding Foundation Volunteer Award
⭐️Dr. Libby Shadinger, recipient of the Carl Grote, Jr., MD Outstanding Physician Award
⭐️The Huntsville Hospital Security Team, recipient of the Outstanding Employee Volunteer Award

Their leadership and service reflect philanthropy that equips, comforts, empowers and protects — strengthening care across our hospitals every single day.

A special thank you to Keel Point for sponsoring the evening and helping make this meaningful event possible.

This is more than generosity.
This is Giving That Heals.

After seven years of extraordinary service, Huntsville Hospital Foundation President Sarah Savage-Jones has announced plans to retire as President on June 30, 2026.

Under her leadership, the Foundation has grown in impact, strengthened partnerships and helped fuel transformational care across our hospitals. We are profoundly grateful for her vision, heart and servant leadership.

Sarah’s commitment to this mission is deeply personal. Her family’s own experiences within Huntsville Hospital shaped her passion for ensuring that every patient and caregiver has the support they need.

As we celebrate Sarah and all she has accomplished, we are also excited for what’s ahead. As part of a thoughtful and strategic succession plan, Amy George, our current Director of Development, will step into the President role — ensuring continuity, momentum and a strong future for our mission.

Amy is a trusted leader who is respected by our team, donors and community, and she will guide HHF into its next chapter of growth and purpose.

Please join us in thanking Sarah for her leadership and lasting impact.
